I read a review for this film a whilst back on Mandiapple, and I found it in the video store during a short holiday (hardly) in UK.
Well, it took me three times before I could actually watch the whole thing. It's so complicated - even though it's just an hour and 7 minutes long. Shinya Tsukamoto does a fantastic job with the direction - his shots definately show the central part of the action which is actually going on - though, it can be hard to watch.
The plot, well there isn't really a central plot, and it's extremely hard to explain. Really, a salaryman and his girlfriend are involved with some psycho guy (played by the director himself) who just shoved a metal pipe in his leg in a hit & run accident.
They throw his corpse in the woods, and out of nowhere decide to have sex in front of this half-alive corpse (which is watching them). Then the spirit of this psycho-metal-guy wants revenge.
Meanwhilst, ''salaryman'' has some weird metal thing protruding from his cheek - and at the train station, good god - this must be the randomest part. The ''woman with glasses'' finds a chunk of metal on the ground, and with poking it with a stick, this piece of metal sticks to her hand to mutate some psycho-metal-hand of death - presumbly (by Mandiapple - the spirit has taken over her body) and she starts chasing him around the whole train station - it's so darkly funny the way she's running after him.
Afterwards, he and his wife are having sex... again. And after that, he randomly spawns a killer-driller penis. It goes on from there - it's so random!
This film is really, psychopath, but can also be considered as an artistic film also - the director's vision is just outstanding.
The films not for everyone, as I said, it's extremely hard to watch - but I do HIGHLY recommend it.
