From the director of "The Crow"

It does have a similar feel to The Crow but it is nothing like it.

Plot Outline: A man struggles with memories of his past, including a wife he cannot remember, in a nightmarish world with no sun and run by beings with telekinetic powers who seek the souls of humans.

Kiefer Sutherland plays a character type I have never seen from him before and that is a good thing. He's a good actor. After Alice, a small indy picture was made worlds better with him in it.

I never felt connected to the main character or the relationship with his estranged wife. The villains weren't threatening enough either. They seemed way too tame for the numbers they had compared to the humans inhabiting the place.

It is a good film and very entertaining even with those minor problems and worth a couple watches to fully understand and see the beauty that is an Alex Proyas film.

Even the villain in The Crow was a little weak and people loved that film nonetheless.

All in all you can't go wrong watching this film. I haven't gotten to the DVD features yet but have also heard a new version is coming soon. Roger Ebert has a commentary on this DVD.

I remember watching this film many years ago.  I also remember it been rather good, very dark and strange.  I can't really remember much about the actual story mind, but I think it had the lass out of the aussie soap 'home and away' in it.  I remember that cos it was one of those 'as if she's in it' moments.

Dark City came out a few months before The Matrix, and thematically they're kinda similar, what with the "reality/unreality" theme and the dark noir aesthetics. But Dark City is a different animal entirely, and a very good film. It's kinda out there (in more than one way, but I'm not gonna spoil the ending!) but the twists work out pretty well and the concept is very original.

Melissa George is in it, yeah. And she gets naked. Which is awesome.
