I came across this flick by accident. Somehow this sharp (no pun intended ) Korean slasher founds its way onto the shelves of American video stores. The director is newcomer Dae-wung Lim who's first film (this one) came out only last year. If someone hadn't pointed this one out to me, I may have had to wait a few years before I found out about it.

Bloody Reunion involves a reunion between a wheelchair bound Mrs. Park and her now-grown elementary school students from long ago. As night falls, students start to fall victim to a brutal killer in a bunny mask. Meanwhile, it is revealed neither the kindly Mrs. Park nor her students are all that they seem.

Bloody Reunion is a perfect example of what a slasher should be. The characters are typical slasher archetypes. You have the jock, the rebel, the shy kid, etc. yet not only are all the characters fully developed, they all share personalized connections to Mrs. Park. Mrs. Park is a strong character as well as her surface contradicts what truly lies inside. I found these characters to be very much like people in real life. People appear one way at a glance yet can turn out to be very different once you get to know them.

The killings are also inventive as hell as twice and brutal. Razorblades and staples are among the killer's weaponry of choice. I'm sure these scenes will have some people covering up their eyes.

Finally, you got your token twist ending. I'm still not quite sure how I feel about this one but people seem to dig them, if only to try and figure them out, so I figured I'd make mention of it.

All in all, solid horror flick. Bloody Reunion was simple to follow and easy to get into so it's only natural it'd be easy to review. This one is too cool for school. Check it out!
