Helping me chose the character names.

'Criminal-thriller'

1. Main guy: 'Finley Dempsey or Dragos Spanish-Italo-Europo or Torrente Tuco'? - Or give me some mafian
surname which start with letter T. But must be American.

2. Tall elegant blond women, Tv presenter: 'Stella or Charlene or Bella Blonde'?

3. 'Blacky' is a little bit of a humorous person, rapper type: 'Dayane Jackson'?

4. The Milky guy. Is inefficient, a white guy with orange hair like scandinavian. Total
milky scan. A nonchalant figure: 'Alex Butler'?

5. Police detectiv (kind of a bad guy): 'Castilo Tarboda or Domenic Cobelli or Pete
Wilson or Carl Schneider or Mr Anderson or George Anderson'?

-also:

1. which city is the best for crime about the cars?
2. which city is most famous about Lottery winners?
3. wich city is most famous about tv show - Who wants to be millioner?

Best regards!

Tucoo:

Call it a hunch, but I am guessing that you have never been to:

1.  Detroit
3.  Los Angeles
(there is no 2.)

When writers choose locales they are unfamiliar with, their stories are often quite unrealistic.  I recently read a script set in New Orleans, by an author who had never been there, and the story was chock full of things that couldn't possibly have happened.

My advice is to set your story somewhere that you are very familiar with, which will make the writing process that much easier for you.

Hey, it's my tiny, little IMDb!

Thats surprising.  Chicago isn't even on their, yet whenever I meet someone from Wisconsin or New york, and they learn i am from Chicago they always do this little machine gun motion and say "oh chicago, with all the gangs."

For character names try acquiring a name dictionary or a history of names book..

There are a lot of books on the market for writers and for soon-to-be parents to help them choose a name for their child.

Naming characters is a subtle business and one which needs careful consideration.

In my experience of reading screenplays I've noticed writers tend to give their characters metophorical names which make the character sound like the flaw or personality trait.

For example:

Private eye could be named WALKER

Hippy Girl could be named HONEY POTTS

Prostitute could be named LUCY LIPS - as in Loose Lips..

You get the picture.

There are  alof of books published which cater for the concept of names and not just for people either. I have a book which deals with all kinds of names from houses, buildings, boats,  ships, planes, cats, dogs and many other things besides..

When writing screenplays and deciding upon characters names you can name a character and then give them a "nickname". When the character speaks dialogue then user the nickname to signify their dialogue..

If you visit Amazon and type in books about names you'll no doubt some up with quite a lot of books in this field. If you are unable to afford to buy a book like this then visit your local library and see if they can find one of these books for you. Alternatively, see if there are some web sites which specialze in "names", there must be some out there..

Hope this helped with your ideas..
