Okay, so, heaven help me, I'm going to try and write a 30 page script intended either for TV or the stage.

Does anyone know how much this differs from screenplay format? I'm going to attempt this in CELTX's "Theatre" template.

Thanks - Anthony

Look at Husbands in Space. It's in correct television format - though for a hour show.

Russo,

One feature of CELTX is the ability to convert between a stageplay and a movie script.  That way you can write it in the more familiar script format and convert to stageplay when you're ready. Touch it up a bit and you're good to go.

I did this for one of my shorts, I Can Do This, and it worked out well for a local theater group.

Final Draft also has templates for every kind of TV format.

Awesome to know Gary - thanks, and I'll be sure to use it when I have more than my current 3 paragraphs of narrative...

The biggest difference between screenplay and teleplay format is that you have to place in the act breaks for commercials. Hence, the beginning of the teaser will have TEASER centered at the top, and when the teaser is over, you have END OF TEASER at the bottom of the page. Then ACT I will be at the top of the next page with END OF ACT I at the end of that section. You also have to ensure that each act ends with some kind of cliffhanger to bring back the audience after the break. With screenplays, there are no breaks, so you can just keep the story going, but with teleplays, you have to consciously make that division.

Thanks George -

Much more work than I had anticipated - I'm thinking of writing it as a 26 or so pager in the three act structure form, but in screenwriting format... (0:
