I am trying to transition from a scene to a voice over to the action talked about in the V.O.

right now I have it like this...

Action Scene.

DIP TO BLACK

                                       PAUL (V.O.)
                                 Blah blah blah blah..
INT. JAIL CELL - DAY

Blah Blah Blah...

I want a black screen between the Action scene and the voice over. Would this be the correct way? Thanks

but from my understanding FADE TO BLACK is only used at the end of the script. It signifies the ending. At least according to my teacher.

Fade is an editing word...the picture fades.  There are no options in editing that I'm aware of called "dip"

FINAL FADE OUT refers to the end of the script.

To some extent you have to use your intelligence.

FADE OUT

Followed by a FADE IN

Is self explanatory as is:-

FADE OUT not followed by anything.
