Hi. I heard sometime ago that there was some cloud based company where you could upload a script. This would be recorded and date and timed. If someone stole your work at a later date, you could prove that you wrote it originally.
Hi thanks for your link. However, it states in your link "Having a mere logline and general story concept is not enough for copyright protection." I am talking about a completed script. You here about musicians suing other musicians that release a pop record for fragments of a few bars of music.
However copywriting law is expensive and not probably worth the expense unless it is a block buster of a film.
It might be better to post the script dated to a family member and get them to keep it safe and sealed. Also have it recorded delivery not just proof of postage.

Getting a copyright is cheap and easy (you can do it online for $65) - defending a copyright is time-consuming and expensive. Defending an IP violation without copyright is extremely difficult.
You don't need to go through all the mailing hoops - email will suffice in terms of recording a date
