I thought it was hilarious. Judd Apatow's deepest work yet. The only down side is it's too depressing at times. It's filled with laughs throughout. I thought it had a good climax, despite that being a little too depressing too.

So, overall it is hilarious but too depressing. Enough laughs for an 8/10.

Btw, that doctor's visit with the "Are you mad that you died at the end of die hard?" Wasn't in the script. Disappointed by that. Good improvisation there

Isle 10- A series I'm currently writing with my friend Adam and it will go into production soon. Think The Office meets 10 Items or Less.

Watching the adverts for it is bad enough... I don't think I could make it through the entire yawn fest. This has got to be the most poorly casted film in recent memory... Never before have I systematically hated everyone in one film before.

I always thought that when you piece together trailers and advertisements you'd generally pick some of the best bits of the movie to "REEL" in people.... It's clear the movie's high point, if you can call it that, is Adam "fake Jew" Sandler's absurd, dry and abysmal reading, or improvisation as you seem to think, of the line above... Absolutely UN-funny. Absolutely witless and without equal.

This cast needs to be black listed and Jud Apatow needs to move his talents beyond petty arguments with past people he's worked with. The guy is a smack who thrives on drama and a click mentality... If he didn't have his security blanket of Shit Spoon un-funny men like SETH ROGAN and that fat ass 40 year old who tries to play 25 year olds, he'd be nowhere and nothing.  The guy has no talent and I could only fathom sitting through some of his stand up... And people thought Michale Richards was bad. "ha"

To end this rant... Comedies now aren't Comedies... They're "DRAMA's with tender light hearted "DEEP" messages behind them. They're absurd. I remember watching "shallow hal" and wondering why this was considered Comedy... It wasn't funny. It was a fat guy making fun of and refusing to date others cos they were fat... Then we're tossed in some little burn victim to make us feel like an ass for laughing the whole movie... Well, those who actually did laugh.  That's when I knew Comedies had taken a shit dive into the toilet... I haven't laughed at a movie that was suppose to be a comedy in years.

I think Sandler makes films good for Sandler fans and nobody else. When he strays from what his fans love the backlash is amazing.

I dunno, I hate the guy and still managed to really get into and like Reign over me. I thought that movie had a distinct mood driving it. Even if I thought the whole 9-11 junk was played out.

I agree with Wesley. And Baltis, if you hate Sandler, why did go to see the movie, especially if you don't like any of the cast. I think your rant was your own fault, and you could have solved the problem with relative ease. It seems like you are jsut creating more problems for yourself and shouldn't go online to rant them out.

Well, if you'd learn to read and learn better comprehension skills you'd see that

"GASP!"

I didn't see the movie... But I wouldn't expect you to understand complex line readings such as these...  Have a g'nite.

I'm still recovering from the Michael Richards joke.

I really liked 'Reign Over Me', which is the only reason I want to see this film.

I remember Sandler's guest appearance on the Cosby Show.

Probably because I just saw it, but still. It was weird seeing him back when he was just starting out.

Say what you will about Apatow or the cast. Neither were the problem, even if you hated them. The problem was the length. I enjoyed the film up until maybe 45 minutes when I realized they weren't going to finish it in an hour and a half. After that, I just wanted to leave the theater. Even the jokes I would've thought were funny just went in one ear and out the other. Bottom line: no comedy needs to 3 hours long, especially one with Adam Sandler. The time it took to tell what essentially is a very simple story just purged anything good the film had to offer and personally speaking, I think it had a lot to offer. All they needed to do was unload some of the worthless subterfuge. Who needs to watch Seth Rogan tear up to Apatow's daughter singing Cats? It brings nothing to the table.

Overall, very disappointing. Maybe even unwatchable. Lord of the Rings may be great too but who really cares when the special edition is four hours?
