Hmm. I always thought that FADE OUT was supposed to be right justified, if you used it.
I don't know, I don't really use it much anymore, so I'm no authority. Even 'FADE IN' very rarely appears in my stuff.
Just read the story. Not bad. I liked it. I liked it quite a bit, actually. There were definitely some unfilmables, which usually isn't a bad thing, but may be a tad too much here, as it took my concentration off the story a bit.
But there was also some very good dialogue. Maybe a couple lines were on the nose, but nothing that didn't sound too unnatural.
I would like to hear from the author, if he's around or checking this out. (It seems he is, as he followed the advice from the people who posted a while ago, and addressed them in the rewrite.)
As for it's predictability, (yes, it is predictable), the twist here isn't where the power of the story is coming from. I think the power of the story stems from the emotions and reactions of the characters. That's why I liked it.
I'm definitely going to check out the screenplay tonight as I've been wanting to see the film.
Hey Mark,
Wow, you just came across this and recalled the script being here? Amazing. Even if it took a month. The website is pretty slick, though the trailer is all doom and gloom. I realize it's not a light subject, but the music was a bit intense. For me, a predictable script like this one comes down to execution. A script doesn't necessarily have to dazzle, but it does need to execute. All this familiar stuff can work, provided the production itself is solid. All the same, very impressive web site.
Regards, E.D.
