I hope I spelt the name right, anyways since people seem to be obsessed with putting down horror films and or talking about them endlessly I thought why not talk about a rather decent film that touches you (Not in a Michael Jackson way)
I mean this film touched me on so many levels, it inspired L.I.F.E. my drama about prison and life. It's one of those once in a lifetime films that you don't know why you like it but you just do
I watched this film last night this morning for like the 8th time or something like that since i bought it, some people buy movies and watch them once and than say "Oh, i've seen that movie. i'm not watching it again" How can people do that? I find movies only get better or worse the next few times around
Anyways tell me how you feel about this movie, it's not the best film ever made but I think it shines high above today's Hollywood films
Yes, I've watched it 5 times now, have it on DVD. Jurassic Park is still the movie I see the most, don't know why. (Probably over a 30 times now ;/) The last movie I've seen that really was a great great movie was L.A. Confidentional, my my what a movie
People have a tendancy to unfairly judge a film bu first look, I give a film at least 2 to 3 watches before I judge. Some films get worse with each passing watch and others may get better.
That's very true, I know for myself that each time I watch Donnie Darko, I like it even more ;p and some other movies like Gladiator just wears off after the second time.
The Shawshank Redemption is a movie which sets itself apart and into a league of its own from a lot of other run of the mill Hollywood films that get made.
I love this movie, I can't watch it tooooooooooo frequently, but I have seen it many times. I love the way it makes you appreciate real friendships, real honest to good love and well, the overall appreciation of life, second chances and a whole bunch of other life lessons which it embraces, but doesn't preach about or shove down your throat.
I love the moment when they all, for a few minutes, have inner freedom from their hell at the prison, to the sound of that beautiful operatic piece. In many ways, it reflects how we all are at the end of the day, just people, no one better from the next, no one more special than the next. We are unique but we all desire the same things in life.
If you haven't seen this movie, believe in the hype this time, because it is actually worthy of it. I don't think you can label it any one thing, but I think if you like movies such as 'Sleepers', 'Murder in the First', 'The Client' ...all those hard hitting, emotive movies, then you'll probably like this.
Within' arms reach of my Lap top here and just had to say, well said "L.F."
I really do like this movie as well and feel it is one of Steven Kings best efforts ever, I believe this to be him... yeah, yeah, yeah, it was. I think... I disagree... I um... Oh nevermind, LOL
Anyways, Nice to see you this morning as always K.K. ~~
P.S. If there's any Justice, been on my mind all night long, really... Thank you
Oh and one more thing before I go... U.S.K. U.S.K.!!
Only thing I came away with from this type of film is that old men don't get rapped in prison so if I ever go i'll be about 50 plus and make sure I look so bad not even the guards would want to hit me
But by than America will have taken over the middle east and turned Iraq into a prison for every prisoner around the world to go and rot away wait Johnny English moment.... No, prison will only gett better than it is these days I think
