Can't say that I've read a play before, at least not one that I didn't either write or perform in, so this is an interesting change of pace.

Reading through this, I was imagining a pretty rapid fire pace where the dialogue just went quick quick quick.  The lead ins to the songs are pretty well executed as well, although I will admit to just skimming over the lyrics.

On the whole, pretty simple story, and definitely an easy to do production.  I think in the first scene of act 2 you may have a few too many songs basically back to back, but other than that it flowed quite well.  And of course there's the happy ending.

The characters all seemed to have there own little things that differentiated them from each other as well, so nice work in that regard.

Anyway, good work.  I enjoyed it.

Skimming the lyrics - can't say as I blame you. In written form, only Al fans will fully appreciate how much the story hinges on the music. If I could get permission to put it on stage, though, I think it would find a wider audience.

Too many songs - almost certainly. Most shows have maybe a dozen songs - this one has a count somewhere near 20. It's a combination of wanting to give every character at least two signature tunes, and just loving Al's music so much!
