I'm currently making storyboard samples to be put up on my website (done this weekend). With storyboards, if you don't have a lot of projects behind your belt it's okay to board out scenes of films already made as long as you put your own spin on shots and make it clear that you did not work on the film your storyboarding from. I wanted to be a little different and board scenes from un produced scripts as well. Do you think writers here would be willing to let me board out scenes from their scripts (with their permission of course). I would also credit the author.

What bothers me though, is I worry about copyright risk for the writer.  Just like I wouldn't want someone stealing my artwork, I'd hate if someone stole a writer's idea based on a visual I drew.

What do you all think?

You might run into some copyright problems, th it would really depend on how much of a particular script you work on.

If you'd like, you can use any of my scripts:

A Can of Worms  Siblings must decide whether to investigate their grandfather's mysterious past.

The Burnout  If you ever wanted to be a hero....

Pug-umentary   I knew the guy liked dogs, but jeesh....  post-production

Dreams in Dust and Marble  A young woman struggles to save her insane world.  post-production

Suicide  A short about two strangers in a bar talking about one's elaborate plans to kill himself.  completed

For Entertainment Purposes Only  A fortuneteller meets with a client he never imagined.  completed

Not Even Death.  A different type of zombie story.

Price Check on Film Noir   There's no double coupons when Nick Branson's on the job!

The Repairman Cometh  sequel to Price Check on Film Noir.

Linus  A young woman's horrific ordeal while walking her dog.

A Druid's Guide to the Northeast  Sequel to Linus.  Sawyer's back!

Bad Penguin: the Series  See, there's this penguin.  And he has this fork....

Orange Menace  Satire on the state of the American judicial system.

I think it would be cool, and I can't imagine that anyone would mind.  If you find something you like, just ask the author and it's all good.

Never one to resist a good plug (though not as shameless as others, perhaps...), if you are looking for a horror, this one might lend itself to your needs, as it is pretty short and was envisioned in a "comic book" style right from the start:

Salvage

But look around.  You are sure to find something.  And let us know so we can check it out  :)

Wow! Thanks Dogglebe and Bert! I'll have plenty of stuff to read this weekend. I'll PM you guys and let you know what scenes I'd like to use, etc.
