Special thanks to The Drabble Cast

As you all know, in August we had the August One Week Challenge wherein participants were asked to write a 12 page romantic drama/comedy script based on this piece of music.  We had 37 entries.  The fine folks over at iScript.com were kind enough to select one script out of the group to be recorded.

The selected script is Our Time Deserves A Love Song by Marnie Mitchell Lister (wannabe) .

An aging musician relives his first love when someone asks what inspired him to write a particular love song.

You can read along with the pdf version of the script here. You can discuss this script and all the OWC entries here.  You can listen to audio performance here.

Three scripts were sent over to iScript to make the final decision.  The other two selectees were:

Broadway Betty by T. Joseph Fraser (blakkwolfe)  A struggling screenwriter enlists the help of an aging Broadway legend to help him write a song.

Your Song by Michel J. Duthin  Could true love live on for a composer beyond death?

Thanks to everyone who participated in the challenge.

Very special thanks to iScript.com for sponsoring the challenge and judging the final scripts.

Additional thanks to The Drabble Cast for providing the melody upon which the challenge was based.

Good job, Marnie!  Although I didn't vote for this as a top 4 entry, I see that I gave you a very favorable review.  Congrats!

Congrats to the other 2 scripts as well.  Nice work, you guys!

Good Job, Marnie. This was one of my nominations, and I'm glad it did well. It touched on the universal theme of first loves and the After School Special type stuff as seen through the eyes of the kids involved, without being too heavy handed or coming off as didatic or preachy. Loved the ending of contrasting the two characters, as if both sharing the memory of the time as if on a karmic level. Really well done, and I look forward to seeing what you come up with next!
