SimplyScripts Screenwriting Discussion Board  /  Screenwriting Class  /  Script Club?

Since it's rather slow here, would anyone be interested in another Script Club discussion?

Maybe everyone is on vacation or something. I'm not and won't be for a while so I'd be game.

Anyone?

I'm down so long as it's not another Joss Whedon script.

Depends on the script - but tentatively count me in.

Cool!!! I need to get back into reading...as well as writing!

What do you guys want to discuss? In production, produced or unproduced by someone here?

Why don't we pick one of each and have a poll to decide.

Or for that matter, just come up with a list of possible scripts and have a poll.

Okay! Great! Want to set one up?

(I don't know how    :B  )

Even if you're new to script club you should vote on the type of script you want to read.

Once we read the script Black Swan and see the movie, where do we meet up for discussion?  is there gonna be another thread?

There will be another thread created.  Then someone, hopefully Pia, will lead the discussion.  It never ends up very organised even though we try to make it that way.  But by the end we cover everything.

There's good and bad to say about organization-- though we try, it's also very pleasant to have improv. We have so much organization in our daily hamster-wheel lives, it's pleasantly welcome by some of us hamsters.

I am looking forward to hearing everyone's views and interpretations. I'm currently reading the script and am very impressed; however, I noticed things already that are different than when I first watched the movie (unless I imagined it). No, definitely one part, I did not imagine and I like the movie take better. I won't say anything more at this point and ruin it.

What I appreciate so far is "the less is more approach" and the little bit of "wheedling" that the writer/s have done to make acceptable, the inner thoughts taboo that readers so often give the no-no not visual head shake and then nix and nine it with a virtual red pen. Yes, the silent edgy conflict exists within this in the white space. Very little needs to be said. The mark of exceedingly talented writers.

Please don't talk about the script yet.  Wait until the thread is opened.

Do you want me to delete that?

No.  Not unless you want to. Just reminding folks that things will be more interesting if they're bursting to say what they felt - rather than letting it all out before the club starts.

Yes. I tried not to say too much, but I wanted to encourage people who might be interested, but on the sidelines.

I won't delete it, but I'll wait for Ray. :)

Hi.

Wait for me to do what? (Ever so curious as I am obtuse).

Read the provided script.
Took initial notes, put 'em on a spreadsheet.
Just watched the BTS/Making Of DVD extras. (You really oughtta watch those, even though they lack director commentary).
Gonna call it a night and watch the feature tomorrow.
Make additional notes about the structure of Mark Heyman's original screenplay and begin those of Darren Aronofsky's re-work of it.
Thursday I'll begin online research to mine what nuggets I can.

G'nite!

Thanks to people like you, I exist. G-d bless you Ray! I love your depth. You give so much, I'm in constant overload.

Seriously, the people that work here constantly devoting loads of their time and talent, it makes me feel like I'm in some kind of electromagnetic vortex.

... then again, I probably am.  ;)

So happy Simply's got this thing started. The only thing that would make this more endearing is if Balt would arrive.
