SimplyScripts Screenwriting Discussion Board  /   General Chat  /  A Fresh Batch of Scripts

I always check them out on the "recent post" page.  http://www.simplyscripts.net/cgi-bin/Blah/Blah.pl?v-search/p-topten/

I check who the author is first. If it's someone I know or someone I know who has read a lot. Some authors I read because I know they write really well and or they know how to write a really good story. I can always learn something from them. If the author has read a lot and is an active member of the forum, then I'll try to read as time allows. Regardless of the quality. I do NOT feel better about myself if the author isn't very good. I admit though, that lately, I most likely won't read those scripts. I just simply don't have the time and I've already read what seems like thousands of those.

I never read the loglines. I check out genre and page count first. If it's a feature, then there's quite a bit of commitment involved and I'm usually not the kind of person who can stop in the middle if I don't like it.

I get excited when Don puts up a bunch of new scripts, but nine times out of ten, they're all terrible.  It's only rare that you find a feature that's good, or even great.  Usually when that happens, the author is a member of the board.  :)

Well, you get what I mean, I guess, and also, I'm not counting shorts.  I'm not a short guy.  I like features.  That's my main thing.  I like to read a good feature.  Now this is just what I think, but usually when the features are posted, there's nothing good unless it's from a member.  There's also rare occasions when a feature will be good and the author isn't even registered on the board.  Let's get one thing straight, though, because this is the part where people start getting defensive and jumping down my throat.  I'm NOT accusing anyone here of being a terrible writer, but I do feel that a great number of features submitted by NON-MEMBERS are terrible.
