With expanded Internet distribution, the market for shorts is probably better than it ever has been. And certainly, the ability to get some sort of notice/attention from a well-written, well-produced short is better than it has been.

It's a developing market, though, so the "rules" to breaking in are far less rigid (making it both easier and more difficult to get stuff produced/distributed) and the money hasn't yet flowed to content creators as it has in features.

But for people who can write good shorts, there are opportunities out there to make some noise.
