There's talk of a potential SS gathering at some point in the near future, which would serve as a good way of getting to know other members of the board in person.

Please reply here if you would be interested in attending such an event.

So do you want me to swing by Canada to pick you up on the way through? Or are you gonna swing by Melbourne and pick me up?

My health is bad but I'm an optimist.  Maybe if not this one, maybe the next.  I know we've got a few members from Vancouver, B.C. and that's my hometown; so who knows?

It sure would be nice to get together with everyone!  I'm thankful for our online work but meeting people in person would be the best.

What is the proposed location?

Sandra

I tried to get them to come to Melbourne, but no luck.  We can have our own get together here Chris - but I think only two people would show.  Are there any other Melbournites out there?

Well me and Mrs Murphy are planning a US trip for sometime this year, gonna do LA and Vegas again (can't keep away from Vegas!) but D.C. is somewhere I have always wanted to go, so you never know...

There are enough Aussies on here that an Aussie one is not impossible!

You can pretty much count me out if it is this year... I never take time off work unless it is a special event like a family get together, funeral and or a wedding.

Then again if it coincides with time off you never know.

It also would have to be more than just a one day thing or the travel cost just does not seem worth it.

I might be persuaded if the site were somewhere in the northeast.

I seem to recall past rumblings of a New York destination.  And call it a hunch -- but Phil probably knows where to find the best beer.

I'll be happy to pick up up to four people on my way from Florida to DC. That's were it'll be, btw.

So if anyone in FL, GA, NC, SC and even TN wants a ride let me know. If you are from Tennessee however, you must wear shoes and have a full set of teeth and under no circumstance will you be allowed to bring any Vols items. Clothing or otherwise!

Anyone else that might need a ride must be over the age of 18! There's no way in hell I'm driving underaged people I met on the internet across state lines.

Also, you can not bring any drugs into my car. Only drug allowed is caffeine. You can bring that in massive amounts if you'd like and I don't care what shape or form you take it. You can drink it, snort it, inject it, use caffeine soap or even caffeine toothpaste. I don't care.

And if you worry about going on a long car trip with someone you don't know and dread long silent moments, do  not fear. I can talk for five people.

Last but not least, you have to be a nice person because I'm leaving my Ruger SR9 at home.

Let me know if you need a ride...

Hey,

This sounds great. I'd really like to go, but sadly, I probably won't have the resources unless the meeting location is somewhere in Southern California. We can even go to Disneyland! Disneyland!

Well anyway, I hope you all have a great time. Give Shelton a hard time for me.

The decision to have the get together in/near DC was so that Don wouldn't have to travel. After all it is supposed to be the Simply Scripts 10th anniversary celebration/appreciation and it wouldn't seem right if he would have to travel to get to it.

Although no date has been set in stone yet, it will most likely be in the beginning of September. The reason it is mentioned already is so that those who wish to participate, but live further away will have time to make plans. And hopefully enough people can travel together in order to save money on gas and such.

More details will come soon. I also encourage anyone who has any suggestions, comments or questions, in order to make this as fun as possible to either post here or pm "me", Shelton or Phil (dogglebe).

Come help us show our appreciation for this site!

Pia

It sounds like a lot of fun, and while a DC trip would be something I'd completely want to plan with my family, it ain't happening this year. That's for sure. If you post the pics online, though, maybe there could be a section for those who could not attend, but were able to photoshop themselves into the other pictures as if they were really there.

...and then, the car, with 6 young writers crammed inside, takes this shortcut, see, and what happens is they get lost on a long lonely dirt road late at night, yeah, and run into these crazed, inbred hillbilly mutants....or maybe zombies....

If we go to a bar, the 'kids' can't drink.  If we go to a park for the BBQ, the 'kids' can't drink.  That leaves your hotel room.... and I'm not driving five hours to party in a hotel room.

I'm not going down JUST to drink either. I wanna meet you guys. However, I won't be told by that I can't drink. You are not in the position to tell me what I can and can't do. And please, don't call me a kid. I've waited 18 years to earn the title of adult. Oh, and Pia will hang out me!

I'm not saying you can't drink.  But if we go to a bar, or to any public place, the law will tell you not to drink.

No worries. It's going to be cool to meet everyone no matter what and no one's gotta pack up and leave after the "gathering's" over, especially considering the trek some of these guys are potentially going to be making. Definitely looking forward to this and will gladly join anyone intent on wreaking havoc on their livers while they're in town.

Hey Joe,

That sounds good!

Design a logo or poster for the Simply Scripts Celebration documentary. I'll bring my film gear and we can start out kinda like a road trip. Maybe others can film their trip there too then we can put it all together afterwards into something great, silly or plain bad. Either way, it sounds like fun to me.

This could be fun! I just came back from a roadtrip. Drove from LA to Chicago and made many stops on the way, including one in Iowa to see The Amani Colonies, and another one also in Casey, Iowa to see Antique Country Road... This could be alot of fun seriously.

Okay people, this better happen now. I just got permission from my husband last night. Didn't think I was going to be able to swing that until sometime during the summer.

Of course I have to visit one of my swedish girlfriends that's moving there next month too, but hey, I can put up with that.

Just wondering what the legal drinking age is there?
In Michigan it was 21, dropped to 18, then raised to 21 again.

I sure wish I could go. You guys have to take pictures and make a film   to post here for all of us who aren't able to attend.

I sure wish I could go.

I'll pick you up on the edge of Lake Michigan.  No excuses!

Anyway, just bumping this thread up to gauge interest once again.

Soo, I know I've been away for awhile, but I'd still totally like to be involved in this.

If it's in september I'll be in school, which means Long Island.........heres looking at you phil...

Actually this might really work out well as my best friend's going to American in D.C. and one of our good friends who's going to Hofstra with me has a car and would probably totally be up for the trip.  We'll see though.

This might sound totally lame, but, like, we should do some sort of compilation thing, where like,at the convention DOn starts a page of a script and then Passes it to the next SSer who can write out the next page and pass it on untill we have some crazy little convention made script.

I hope this really happens.  I also have this crazy idea that it, like, will happen, but some crazy dude will come and kill us off one by one in ways that characters have died in our scripts...

Sorry Mike. I still can't go. It would have been nice to meet everyone though.
Hope you all have a blast.
And I also hope you all take pictures.

I'll be out in late October but as of right now I'll only be on the West Coast and not even sure how long for now. It may be only a week as I want to do a bit of travelling in other parts of the world aswell so all my plans are up in the air at present. I have to say D.C is one of my least favourite places in the USA to visit (once was enough...) sorry guys!!!

Mike, I got your email, I will reply properly asap.

I am on vacation right now -- popping in and out as time permits -- but I also wanted to jump onto this thread and let you know I am still up for this, too, Mike.

There are several people here I am really looking forward to talking with over a few cold ones.

Cindy and Andy are both on that list -- too bad, gals -- but on the bright side, I guess we get to gossip about you since you aren't there!

Hey, it's my tiny, little IMDb!
