Thanks for the bad news, Helio.  I'm vacation in Amsterdam and Belgium in a few weeks and really needed to hear about a plane going down.

Is very nice to see the cooperation between France and Brazil in order to rescue the AF 447 Flight debries in the Atlantic Sea. Until now were found 5 corpses of about 200 something passengers!

Solidarity is the name of this enterprise!

Oh, USA are helping too!

Hope someday will find the truth about it. Till now it seems a bit unclear. Weather, technical problems, bomb?

bomb?

A report on NPR said they're pretty much ruling out a bomb because no one has taken credit for the disappearance (which usually happens).

That's right, it makes sense. More important now is to find the corpses and to confort the families. However, importnat too is the authorities to reveal what happens to provoque this tragic accident.

There is very well written article in the Times on this, most informative, if a little scary.

I think one of the craziest things I've heard about this accident is that before it crashed, Air Control's computer printed out a full malfunction report.  However, a safety expert (and pilot of many years) who was interviewed said that the malfunction report could itself be a malfunction, so it can't be trusted until they find the black box.

The most interesting part in the article is imo. the computer reporting a loss of pressure. If the Aircraft was hit by a lightning that tore a hole in the hull, the Aicraft would depressurize instantly and that air would be sucked out of the passengers' lunges. Forget about having time to reach for the oxygen mask, you're dead (or at least unconscious) within seconds - plus the passengers would have been exposed to temperatures at around -70.

I hope this is what happened with the Air France Flight 447, because that would mean the passengers didn't have time to feel a thing.

I heard about a family that got divided: he went to Paris in another flight of Air France together with their son and his wife embarked with their daughter in the AF 447 flight! Why? Because they believed whether would happened something all family wouldn't die!

Yeah, It was mentioned in that article. It has stuck with me all day, what a terrible story. Supposedly it was not so much as they thought something bad would happen but just more about being practical in case it did. Just like the President and Vice-President never travel together they decided that should anything ever happen it would be far better for each child to travel apart, each with a parent.

Just don't know what to think about that, on one hand it is a heart-breaking story, but on the other, what if they never had that pact in the first place, would all four of them had taken the later flight and thus all lived? A question he no doubt will spend the rest of his life thinking about.
