We have all had this happen, and when it does, it sucks. So what's the most recent movie you have seen that you were so excited for....but left not liking it?

For me, it was Terminator Salvation, 5/10

I think Terminator 3 was my last disappointment.

Spielberg's War of the Worlds (mostly the ending) and Quantum of Solace.

I agree with you on the Ending of War Of the Worlds (remake) could that not have been more rushed? And Solace was probably one of the worst pile-of-crap films in 2008.  

Ahhh, you're the second person to say that 'Terminator Salvation' is a huge disappointment. I am still very keen to see it on Thursday, however.

'Valkyrie' was a disappointment for me - not bad, but with the subject matter, I was hoping for more. It's probably owed a second viewing from me.

I agree with that Michel. WOTW was going okay up to that point. QOS was a big disappointment after Casino Royale. Still, way better than some Bonds.

Nazis with English accents. Tom not even bothering with an accent. Eddie Izzard was way out of place. I don't want them sounding like the Nihilists in The Big Lebowski but they could do a hint of an accent. Oh, and the story wasn't done well either. Oops, I'm ranting.

I was expecting something really freaky and in your face that would give me chills.  I'd say that's a fair thing to expect from one of the most controversial films of all time, right?  But the only thing controversial about this movie is how horrible it was.

Worst.  Movie.  Ever.  Even worse than Hostel.  

No Country for Old Men - Big disappointment.

Wow. Why people like this piece of shit is beyond me. It's incredibly boring and the characters are shockingly flat and uninteresting. I couldn't finish it.

Ang Lee's Hulk Movie disappointed me.

Yeah, Spielberg's 'War of the Worlds' was major woeful. Why the hell didn't they set it in the late 1890's like in H.G Well's original novel? Would've been heaps better.
the dark knight was disappointing too - too long, too boring.

Drag Me To Hell has to be the most disappointing movie of 2009 for me by a longshot.

I hated it.  The point of the film, which is to freak you out, even failed to do that.  Maybe I have a thick skin, I don't know.  It's loaded with rape and animal violence, both of which freak the hell out of me in most other movies, but here I was just left in disbelief over how massive of a goat turd this film was.

And Spielberg's War of the Worlds...I actually really liked that movie in the summer of 2005.  A lot.  Then one day something clicked and I realized how bad it was too.

I never said the film was bad there were good scene adn awesome direction, but the end... I said to myself, "Yes. And then?..." Too rushy. But the film is on the whole good.

A Danish film called Pusher.

Heard really good things about it. Was an alright film until the ending, which was very disappointing. An example of an ambiguous ending I didn't like.

On another note, Pusher 2 is a very good film.

Sniper, I did man. When I gave Terminator a 7/10 I was in the "post screening rush" you, know, the time where your not really sure of your opinion on a film yet. anyway yeah I made up my mind, 5/10 is final. Thank you! I'm not the only one to say Slumdog was disappointing! Good, but disappointing nonetheless.  

About 90% of every film I have ever watched.

Spider-Man 3 sticks out most in my mind, I was so hyped up when I went to see that and came out the cinema crushed.

Maybe Pirates 3 too, I liked it but was expecting a LOT more.

I am yet to watch Pusher 3, got the trilogy, only watched 1 and 2 though.

And both endings were ambiguous, and left the audience wondering what the protag will do next... But I thought Pusher 2 had a much more satisfying ending, with what Tonny does to his father, and does with his baby. It felt it wrapped up everything nicer.

And on another note, I still can't believe the actor who played Tonny played Le Chiffre in Casino Royale

The Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions, Pirates 3 (and 2 to an extent). A lot of sequels, really. You expect them to replicate the magic of the first and they just...don't. They try, and in attempting to be bigger, better and more spectacular they often forget the central things that made the original enjoyable in the first place. Actually, not just sequels - while I enjoyed the experience of seeing watching Watchmen (2:30 AM at the IMAX, pretty unique), in retrospect it wasn't as good as I'd hoped it would be.

I also watched Easy Rider on DVD recently in order to finally appease my uncle...and I have to say I wasn't particularly impressed. Maybe it's just aged badly.

And I completely disagree with you about Spidey 4. From what I've read about the development process of SM3, it definitely sounds like a case of 'too many cooks'. Yes it was a bloated, self-satisfied, badly-judged mess, but I think if they take their time and try not to do too much, then it's by no means doomed. After all, Drag Me To Hell showed that Raimi still has the ability to make an enjoyable film.

Matrix Reloaded, really? That was the best of the series for me man. Revolutions sucked, yes, but Reloaded was awesome

I think the main thing that disappointed me about Cars was that I just wasn't drawn into the story. I liked the theme (slowing down and appreciating the scenery), but didn't really care for any of the characters. I was disappointed there wasn't a main villain to laugh at or be scared of, and I was completely shocked that the "hero" of the movie was such an insignificant prick. Sure, he comes around in the end and has a change of heart, but I just didn't care by then.

I will admit the animation is beautiful, but like I said, the heart of it all just didn't connect with me like it should have.

Overbrook's production credits have included "I Am Legend" and "Hancock," starring Smith, and 2008 releases " Lakeview Terrace" and "The Secret Life of Bees" without the star's on-camera presence.

Hope the remake will be superior to the original French film.

I hear a lot of Matrix sequel slagging. They were a disappointment compared to the first but compared to most other stuff they're pretty good. I watched them again recently and I still like them. A hoax? A slick and an enjoyable one.
And I can't believe Tell No One is on this thread. I loved that film when it came out. Best thing I'd seen in a long time.
Hotel Rwanda. Another two hours wasted.
Eyes Wide Shut. Despite the style and intrigue some of the dialogue is dire "I will redeem him!". And once you notice Tom repeating almost every line said to him it becomes hilarious.

Jumper (DVD)

I had a similar idea for a film that I was playing around with when only a few weeks later I saw the trailer for this piece of garbage. Talk about disappointment. I know what you're thinking. "You saw it had Hayden Christiansen in it, right?" Hey, he was great in Life as a House so I was hoping. I had to turn it off about halfway through. Special effects and Samuel L. Jackson just can't save crappy material.

Also, 21. I only watched 21 for thirty minutes and absolutely hated it/

I also hated Cannibal Holocaust. It's got some good acting and I do think it's genuinely disturbing. When it comes to brutality, this movie is king. Period. Still, whatever dillusions of grandeur it is, it's still just sick, senseless exploitation. The only thing that sets it apart from the rest is it's lack of honesty. I enjoy a fair share of it's contemporaries but I was also disappointed by it.

Virtuosic filmmaking, complex characters brought to life by above and beyond acting, including Tom Cruise who I can't stand, and the guts to do something different... not to mention a killer opening and, of course, raining frogs. Yet in the end, it went nowhere. I guess they figured if everything else was in order, they could chuck story to the wind. I don't know. Maybe some IMDB turds will tell me I didn't "get it," which I doubt, but I was still extremely disappointed. I initially thought it was one of those films that needs time to sink in but so far, nothing's changed.

Eyes Wide Shut?  A disappointment? One of the best movies I've ever seen...one of my definte faves.  Kubrick at his best, one last time. Insanely great acting all the way around.  Crazy happenings, great style and theme...great nudity...even quite scary at times.  All arond great flick!

Pirates 3 has to be one of my biggest theatrical disappointments...completely ludicours plot, WAY too long, repetitious...stupid.  What a shame. 1 and 2 were so enjoyable for what they were.

Not sure I get it either, or even if there is anything to get, I do love this movie though despite the strangeness of the script. One of my all time favorites, the part when they are all singing "Wise Up" is one of the most cheesiest moments in film history and yet strangely it works.


My biggest disappointment of the year so far was Duplicity, Tony Gilroy off the back of Bourne and Michael Clayton made a bit of a stinker there, very disappointing.

It wasn't really a disappointment, I ended up really liking it, but Drag Me to Hell was very different from what I thought it would be.

I thought it would be more serious than it was.

But I liked it a lot, and it reminded me of an hour and a half long episode of Tales From the Crypt.

Well, sometimes there is nothing better than being proved wrong, or having your mind changed. I gave 'Valkyrie' its second viewing and this film is terrific.

Consider my own comment scrubbed, and if you haven't seen 'Valkyrie', then please do 'cos it's well worth the view.
