Why would Kevin Williamson write a Scream 3? Ehren Kruger wrote Scream 3 based on Williamson's outline (he didn't write it himself because he was busy with other projects). So the Scream 3 that was produced is basically his. He came up with the plot and final conclusion, and Ehren turned it into a script. Why would he write another Scream 3 when he came up with the one that exists? He always planned it to be a trilogy with the same characters, so I don't see why he would write a script (with the intention of it being the thrid part) without Sidney in it. It can't have her in it if he plans to use this as Scream 4, because Neve isn't going to sign on. It's got totally new characters in it right? So why would that have EVER been a Scream 3??? The third chapter was always going to have the remaining characters in it, that was decided from the start.

No shit dip shit.  I am telling what he said. When he sold Scream to the studio, he had also wrote 2 and 3. But never got to selling it to the studio when he was filming withThe Facuilty. Kevin's outline was to follow new characters on a movie set of Stab 3, so Ehern used that, but put the survivors in the main people's places. So there you go, don't try and tell me what the tryth is, beacuse I know just about everything about Scream. Okay? Good!

More than TELLING you anything, (I only know what I've heard),  I was also ASKING, because you just know EVERYTHING to do with Scream. And while we're on that, you didn't actually go into detail about Ehren using Kevin's ideas but changing them to include the survivors, that new information came up AFTER (appropriately) I posted. And a point needs to be made about this:

"No sh*t dip sh*t."
"I know just about everything about Scream. Okay? Good!"

What are you like 12?! If you are, I suppose you're forgiven for that attitude because you may not know any better. If you're older, act it. I'm also wondering why he would turn the "new characters on a movie set of Stab 3" idea into a 4th film. Won't it basically be a rehash of part 3 but without the Maureen/Sidney stuff? Maybe you're able to answer that for me (perhaps with a higher level of maturity this time?) because I'm very worried but also excited about the prospect of another Scream film! . Has anyone else noticed that LOADS of people seemed to like them and now, for no reason, they've all turned on them, saying they're bad? What's up with that? Like you zondaguy, I still love them and I kind of want another, but only if it's good. Scream 3 (although good in my opinion), was the weakest of the 3. If a 4th is even weaker, the series would be revived and then shot down in one go, and that would be a real shame.

Zondaguy, perhaps you could post the address for the website from which you get your information.  Then we would all be in the same page.  Let's try that shall we?

I am a long time SCREAM fan, have been since it hit video, back in the late 90s, but I have to agree with 95% of you all.  SCREAM 4 is the worst idea, I've ever heard.

Now, I've heard of rumors of a sequel to THE FACULTY thanks to a Robert Rodriguez interview, but I've never heard any of this nonsense.  This isn't a movie, that needs to get made.  Sorry, ain't gonna happen anytime soon.

Maybe a prequel, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

I know they were good, they were above average for a non scary movie and I'll enjoy them until the day dvd's stop working but there's a point when you have to stop making sequels

X Men and Spiderman they're doing the whole sequels until there blue in the face, that's okay but I can bet that when they get up around 5 they wont be as good as the originals accept maybe Spiderman because it's not hard to get better when they have characters like Venom and Carnage to use

If they make another sequel to Scream I hope it's good

Uhm, not to be rude. But when the day that S3 was going to be released, they had an interview with the cast on a Countdown party. In the interview, the cast member said that there would only be three movies, because movies do a lot better as trilogies. But, Courtney Cox Arquette just had her baby, Neve Campbell is not looking for work right now, and David Arquette is away doing a StePHen King movie, like Zora said.

So, if you put it all together --- there would only be a Scream 4 if we lived in Parellel Time (PT)!

I liked all the Scream movies.  I don't know why.  I can't explain it.  If they made another one, I would watch.

David would be able to do Scream 4 if he would sign on. Riding the Bullet, the Stephen King movie he's working on, is in post production.

Neve wouldn't, whe is in A Private War, and thats in pre production.

Courtney isn't doing anything so she would be free to do it.

I don't think Scream films have any impact anymore. After their success, we got films like Urban Legend that relied on a fresh well known cast that would pull in the Dawson's Creek and teen comedy movie fans. To make sure they were suitable they had little gore, and the void was filled with more of that tongue in cheek humour that only worked for Scream and those annoying winks at the audience. Don't get me wrong, I love all those cheesy Scream copies despite the lack of horror in them, but they fizzled out (I believe it was Urban Legends 2: Final Cut that killed it) just like in the 80s when Friday the 13th, along with other effective slashers like Prom Night, My Bloody Valentine and The Prowler, were followed by the likes of...well, films that you can't remember the titles of.

The original pull for the audience was the gory death scenes, and soon these films became weaker and weaker in that department, and replaced the gore with cheesy humour. It can be seen in the Friday the 13th series. The first 4 are gory (or at least WERE before the censors got to them). But look at...I dunno, part 7 or something. There is practically NO gore, and instead we get pathetic "humour" from a "this will be the only film you're even in" cast and a girl with psychic powers. This explains why such films died.

Scream was the revival, but it was short lived because of the Urban Legend-like quality of the ones that followed. Even Scream 3 itself was packed with humour and had no gore. It was a victim of a deja-vu process that the first in the series caused! After all this, it seems that someone has finally cottoned on, as we have been given the likes of Wrong Turn, Cabin Fever etc, that are reminiscent of the slashers of the late 70s and early 80s that initially started the slasher film craze. It is likely that THIS is the new trend in slasher films, and a Scream 4, if done in the same style as the other 3, just wouldn't cut it anymore. Scream introduced a lot of teens to horror, and they loved it...at the time. They've seen harder, gorier, scarier stuff since then, and I can't see them lapping up another Scream film because it would probably seem very tame now. It's a shame, because I love the Scream trilogy, but even I have to admit that they don't pack a punch anymore. With that in mind, would another Scream film REALLY get made? I’d love to see one if it was done well, but I don’t see it happening.

Ian
