Oh Man this is going to be bad! None of the original cast is returning. It should be out for 2006 and its rumoured that its a remake! a remake!!! doesn't that make you feel old! Anyway heres the plot (which is the same as the first): A group of Teens Acidently kill one of there friends on the 4th July weekend. Unwillingy they all agree to keep it a secret. One year later there secret comes back to haunt them! Im sooo disappointed, if it was a sequel with JLH and FPJ that'd be awsume!!

I have to say I am indifferent to a third "I Know" movie, as I thought both of the original films were God awful.  But what I do know is that author Lois Duncan was very mad about how the film turned out, as it apparently differed greatly from her novel (never read the novel, so I do not know how much or what was changed).  So, perhaps she has managed to get a deal done where a movie that more closely resembles her book will be made, hence her writing credit.

I don't get this.... They did this like 10 years ago, maybe even longer... How the hell is it still "LAST" summer!!!? I hate these movies. I hate Scream movies. I hate all new horror movies. They suck!

I'd like to know the ad-wizard who came up with this stuff.

You see Balt, they find a bland novel or idea buy up the rights, hire a "hip" to the youth screenwriter or film-maker and make a film that kids like the topic starter will run to and say "Oh my god this is so good, did you see how hot that girl was in it?" and they sell it eventhough it sucks and they find this out later on when they actually watch it.

They kind of did the Television drama star to a bad horror film thing here as well. They do that so much instead of hiring real actors they hire T.V. actors who always turn out to be bad in horror.

As long as you have big breasts (Real or fake) they'll hire you (Ask half of the women in film nowaday) it's the audition process.

Can't they just go back to using reasonably normal looking girls in films? I remember watching some older films and the girls were by todays standard ugly.

I read the book and yes it was diffrent from the movie, still i thought both the movie sucked and the book, but the book was still better than the movie.

Kevin, you think this will be bad but you think another TCM is great?

Here's my final thoughts on this film if you think it's a good idea you're an idiot. I see no point in the whole series but to flaunt "Hollywood hot" girl tits and ass that make bad films passing themselves off as something credible when in fact they're sh*t. Plain and simple.

The only way they could sell a 3rd film is if Brandy or Jennifer Love Hewitt gets fully naked for the camera, basically that's the only way anyone would care. People don't even care enough to bitch about it as they do others because honestly what is it? Exactly it's nothing.

Please, no! These late 90's/early 2000's "teen slashers" were absolutely atrocious. Films like Urban Legend and Valentine were some of the worst horror films ever made. I could have sworn they were gone for good but then Venom came out and now this. If they're planning on bringing these "teen slashers" back then the worst is surely yet to come in the horror genre.

The first 2 were garbage.  In fact the only reason to see the second one would be the tanning bed scene, and that wasn't even too much.  Since this is going to limp itself to a trilogy...Urban Legends 3 probably isn't too far off...or was that already made?

Best part about this is straight-to-DVD means Don't expect much. They probably hired a bunch of good looking early twenties actors to get naked and die...

This movie is bad, has anyone (sorry to go off topic here) Seen VALENTINE or at least that's what I think it's called.

I have never seen a horror film so badly directed and acted out in my life. That guy from Angel was in it. He was some kind of geeky high school bullied kid, who returned years later and a total make-over. He starts killing those that bullied him, as far as I can remember, I dunno I lost my concentration about three minutes in. LOL!!

If you have not seen this film, trust me you really don't know how lucky of an escape you have had.

I had the pleasure of watching Valentine once. I was going to use Valentine for one of my script names until I noticed it was on TV. Yes, it was pretty bad, it also had Denise Richards in it (the only reason I watched).

On topic though, I think Wesley will be right, they probably will have hired a bunch of good looking actors to get naked then get slashed to death in bloody ways. The only teen slasher I like has to be Final Destination great movies there .

Hey, Chad Michael Murray did just that? Are you mocking the great Chad? If you are I have to dis agree with you. Although he is a tv star I thought he was good in House of Wax. He only got partially naked *shirt off* dammit.

I went and bought lois duncan's novel and I must say they do differ quite alot. ALOT. Kevin Williamson is the god of teen slashers imo and he did quite well with IKWYDLS. The sequel was god awful. It wasnt a thriller like the first it was an all out slasher. Unless Kev. writes this *which i doubt* i will be missing this installment

As far as I'm concerned Chad did NOT follow the path of others because he has done other films before he did the horror one. His name is out there in the world. (Nobody cares about Barry Watson.)

The fact that they don't have any of the originals makes no sense with the title. I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer but the audience doesn't even know what they did last summer. Frankly Scary Movie makes these films look stupid.

When they expose the mindless nature of the plot people should just walk away. I cannot believe people hail these types of movies as great or even horror. Call them what they are, a paycheck for nothing going on actors.

I liked the first two and i can't understand how they can have the third without any of the original cast. However i'm going to check this out off pure curiousity. I think it's out here in the U.K within the next couple of weeks.

After readnig this entire thread, I havea couple of comments. First, Lois Duncan has written quite a few books: Amazon search link. Some of these books have been adapted into films: imdb link. She's one of those authors whose film adaptations, unfortunately, usually suck big time. I looked thrgh several of the reviews for the film adaptations of her novels, and the general feeling is of crappiness. One person even commented that she's a good writer, but keeps getting crappy movie adaptations. It's even in her profile that she despises the IKWYDLS movie.

About that particular movie, though, it is a bit different from a lot of slasher flicks in a couple of different ways. First, the killer toys with his victims. Seriously, you can't tell me that you didn't find that bit where Sarah MG woke up with her hair cut a bit creepy. Where most films isolate the characters physically, this one isolates them psychologically. Sure, after awhile, you wonder why they don't go for help, and the adults play the non-listening goofs, but eh, what're gonna do. And I really don't know what's up with that TCM style Egan house (but only the second time Julie visits).

But yeah, the sequel went ahead and dipped into standard horror fare with nothing new to offer.

That being said, however, I'll probably watch the video release of the new film when I get it from Netflix...it's at the top of my list.

Ah George, you've made me happy. There is hardly anyone else around who is both a mature (as in not a teenager) horror fan/writer who also likes I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER (at least a little bit). I agree that it had a somewhat different build up (the Killer playing games with the victims until his "big day"), that scene where Sarah Michelle Gellar gets her hair hacked off is great! The first hour or so focused mainly on the accident and how it tore the group apart. It was much more character based than a lot of other slashers and I thought it successfully created tension and suspense this way. And Sarah Michelle Gellar's lengthy chase scene is the best I've ever seen. I know the film is pretty run of the mill and "traditional" (aka clichéd), but I feel it is note worthy for a number of reasons and isn't the travesty everyone made it out to be (even some critics liked it, unlike the sequel and every other 90s slasher film that wasn't part of the Scream series).

I STILL KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER was a major step down. The only good thing about it is that, like the first film, it has some creative and well choreographed action towards the end (mainly the stuff involving Brandy, her stunt double didn't get a break!). Everything else about it was pretty weak. It only works as a FRIDAY THE 13TH style slasher, which it shouldn't have been because I believe the first was more than that. It cheapened the series significantly (despite its huge budget). It doesn't surprise me at all that it's become a direct to DVD franchise.

The first film made a lot of errors that would have been so very simple to fix. Max's death served no dramatic purpose within the greater plot. It was only used as a toy against Julie in a nearly unbelievable "catch and release" scene with her car. I wish someone would believe the "kids" when they report something weird going on and someone died. It was actually kind of irritating when I go hte end of the film, and said "that was good," and then in my ponderings, I found a lot of little things. Nothing huge, mind you, just a lot of little mistakes.

But I do like the more character based isolationism it put on us in that one. In most slashers, the leads start to die off in the second act. Not a one goes in this one till the third. We gets lots of scares and creepy stuff, but no one dies until we get to know them. Sure, they're not wonderfully developed to be best friends with us, but for a slasher, it's not bad. The film does a lot of stuff right. Enough that perhaps this installment (whether remake or episodic-style sequel) will take a lesson from the first and give us something worth watching.

I'm honestly not hoping one way or the other. But I will watch it.

What has happened to Sequels. Arg....... Hollywood is now turning into a retro flashback. Look at whats happening. As if the I know what you did series is ever going to get old. How can you make a movie when you know it's going to be bad. I never liekd the series of I Know what you did. They weren't very entertasining. The third is just a bust. It will tank in the box office.

I would never write a seqeul unless, it's a series, or a movie that you set up to be a sequel. Sure the odd time there is a good sequel but it's hard to make a good third movie. Two good three could be done without. With few exepctions. Rambo, Rocky, LOTR (not Return of the king), Back to the future and a few others. I can't stand to many sequels. I'll probally force myself to see it being I enjoy a movie that I've made a prediciton on.

The original cast isn't coming back so it won't be good. You can predict if your movie will suck if your original actors won't return. I donm't understand how some people can write screenplays to movies that will tank. It's just commen sense.

The first IKWYDLS was ok, not near as good as scream or scream 2, but it had it's moments.  The second, well, it's awful, it was so bad, and shouldn't it have been called I still know what you did two summers ago? and WTF was Jack black doing in It?  I probably wont see this as I have to buy stuff I wanna watch, and I don't wanna end up with another Hostel or White noise.  But I may watch it when it comes on Tv.

People don't write movies in the knowledge that they will tank. You get enough heads into one box and eventually someone will forget what the thing is all about. I'm sure Kevin Williamson's original IKWYDLS screenplay was quite good. Probably a joy to read. Then you have the director go in and have his/her way with it. Then the actors have their say and "tweak" the dialogue her and there possibly sounding better but maybe missing a crucial piece of subtext. Then everyone gets together for the dailies and maybe that scene that was so beautiful on paper doesn't look so good on screen so let's rewrite that one scene...and lose a tiny bit of story. Then the producers get ahold of it. Mind you, they've either been absent or simply following the production schedule this whole time. They have their say on it, and then we go back for reshoots of some scenes that maybe they think could go better. Then the editor goes in and cuts the whole thing together and when the director watches it, maybe he goes for the visual and another piece of story ends up lost. So cut, chop, reshoot, tweak, snaz, and then everyone who has been in on this the whole time and understands every line of dialogue and every character so well, they totally miss that the outsiders who've never seen the film won't get it, puts it out there.

Maybe this remake was intended to fix the rather simple errors they observed in the original. Maybe they felt it was an improvement.

The real tragedy is that sometimes these movies are create in such an intimate environment that everyone is too close to the project and don't realize it until much later that they cut something important...until after the movie tanks because that element isn't there.

This is why studios do previews. They get it in front of an impartial audience to review it for them so they can fix the problems BEFORE the official release. These previews involve the audience filling out little cards for what they liked and what they hated. The studio would ideally go back and take these suggestions from their audience and tweak the film a little more before its gala release. This part of the process is what I beleive to be the most important part. If you don't do this and rely on the opinions of those who know it so well they could recite the script and its deleted scenes in their sleep is just not smart. I hope they showed this Always Know installment to someone before dumping it on video. If not, I fear for it.

But no one, not even Uwe Boll, sets out to make a bad movie. They do what they can with what they have. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. You just have to hope your movie comes out at the right time to the right audience.
