I have finished one script and still in the process of writing another one. Yet I am not confident of my own work so I need someone to co-write it with me. For the finished script,I need someone to do corrections or add new lines, scenes and dialogue if it isn't good enough. How do I find someone to help co-write my scripts?

I don't think I can just go on facebook or some random forum where people in my country frequently go to just to find a partner. Then there is the problem of an unreliable partner who after correcting the script may look for a film company on his/her own and sell the script without your knowledge. Any advice on how to go around finding a script-partner? Also any advice on just generally everything that involves one?

Hi Baldie, (your username made me chuckle) btw.
Welcome to SS!

First off, if you're not entirely confident with your work my advice is to post your screenplay to sites like this one for feedback. All writers expect on this site is that you likewise give back a bit.

We have a One Week writing challenge at the moment so there will be a slight delay with the usual submissions. OWCs are also a good way to get to know people on SS. You can check it out here:
https://www.simplyscripts.net/cgi-bin/Blah/Blah.pl?c-OWC/

You can learn a lot here and in the process get to know fellow writers who might want to collaborate with you etc.

I've also moved this to the Collaboration thread - someone might  contact you directly from there.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for being so helpful. But I'm not looking for anyone to collaborate because the script is not in English and I don't know how to send the cash if we split the payment into half. I'm just looking for some advice on how to get someone to co-write a script and also advice on what to watch out for. Sorry I caused a misunderstanding.

So, are you looking for a proofreader specialising in non-English speaking background?

More like someone who can "up" the plot if he finds that there are certain parts that are weak in writing. In the Malay language.

Okay then you need to specifically state that you are seeking a Malay writer to help with editing a script - completed first draft  and include some details, then what you require e.g. proofing, creative input etc. Perhaps edit your post include Logline, Title, genre and a few details about yourself.

An alternative is posting some of your screenplay in the work in progress thread WIP (with extra details as above) and see if you get input/feedback etc.

Hi You can register your movie with the writer's guild. It will protect your movie title along with what the script is about.

Registration with the Writer's Guild doesn't protect what your script is about, it protects (to a degree) how you have written your specific script about that topic... it's the words it protects not the idea.

This sounds like the question should have gone in The Business of Scripts.:

Don't think I can move just two posts.

Just an FYI for you 3raleighs that you're most welcome to start your own threads.
