Kath (Jane Turner) is a forty something woman who is engaged to her "handsome hunk-of-spunk" finacee Kel. When Kath's spoiled duaghter, Kim, (Gina Riley) moves back into her house after leaving her husband, Brett (Peter Rowsthorn) for the fifth time.
One of the funniest Australian TV show I've ever seen, and my mum has season one and two on DVD. kath an dKim the main characters, honestly think they are rich and "effluant" and they speak with what they think is a french accent "Look at me, look at me, look at moi". Presented in a documentary style direction.
Kath and Kim's sense of modern fahsion is horredous and funny. For example, when Kath is looknig for a wedding dress, she chooses the worst dress there - a Little Bo Peep dress complete with crook.
With the constant VO's, you could swear this is just a warped series of Big Brother.
Kim thinks she is "hot- to - trot", but is overweight and very bitter. She is constantly teased by Kath.
Kath has a huge afro, which is strange for a forty year old. See them here:
Hahahaha. I love Kath and Kim. But it's one of those shows like The Office that not everyone gets, or not everyone likes. It's a very offbeat kind of humour, with no obvious gags. But its smartly written and probably the funniest show to come out of Australia in a long time.
A very good show that spawned from a classic Aussie skit show. Numerous thumbs up for this one. My favorite scene ever from this show is when Glenn Robbins and Geoffrey Rush power walk together. So bloody hilarious.
