Sounds to me like everyone's not in agreement on anything!

Here's what I say...I think we should "pick" a script, and the author should be completely onboard.  I feel we should go with a script that is already written, and in a state where the author wants and needs our critique and feedback.  Also, an author who deserves this invaluable service through their contributions to help others on this board.

Who is that?  Which script is that?  I don't know.

Off the top of my head, I'd throw out the revised version of "Red Light", which I haven't actually read yet.  Other than that, I don't know, but I don't think it's wise for Pia and Mike to rush out a first draft.

Not trying to cause any problems in here, just an idea.

I'm not sure I know what that means.  Moved on?

It means you have surpassed most writers here. You have sold stuff and you did it writing things your way. The way you see fit.

There are too many people thinking FORMAT and RULES are everything.

Either way. I'm no longer interested unless the next script is by someone I respect. Someone that appreciate feedback. Good or bad and strives to get better.

but... to be honest, I am not really looking forward to reading a random script from SS either. I'd rather read a produced (sold) script than reading something dug up from the abyss of unproduced features at SS by a writer that forgot he/she even submitted something.

This is something I would agree with and although I'd like to qualify my words here with an "all due respect" to writers that have submitted in the ancient past, (and who knows how long that is in this age of twittering) it would help if they are currently active and actually give a hoot.

I actually have enjoyed the produced scripts we've studied so far and it will also help to get me watching more movies. When we study something here that's been produced, I usually read the script first and then watch the movie. I haven't watched that many movies in my life; so it helps to bridge the gap of my existing irony

Also, I'll recommend this: The Memory Keeper's Daughter.

This thread is awesome.  I'm finally noticing all the people who don't bother to read past the two posts prior to theirs.

Move on Mike. There's nothing to see here.

Sadly, I'm inclined to agree with that statement.  Can we pick a script already?  We've only got about 12 options, and one of them is even a Lifetime movie.  We can all aspire to that, right?

Isn't the act of dismantling a script benefitial, regardless of what the script is? Helps us analyse our own work, and whatnot. Seems to me that the advantage of an unproduced script is that we can look at what's wrong with it, while any produced script has really achieved its fundamental purpose: it's been sold. Obviously having the person around to receive feedback would be a bonus, but is it entirely necessary?

Just a thought. Of course I know I haven't done one of these before so I'm not hugely qualified to comment!

To be quite honest, I thought we were doing the Mike/Pia sexy summer Sunday extravaganza.  I was looking forward to it.

Nope, nobody's on board with that because they don't want us to embarrass ourselves by submitting a first draft that was written quickly.

Pia has withdrawn the script from consideration.

Is there some aversion toward doing a Mike Shelton script? Because two have been offered up, The Order of Things and Coffee & Inspiration. He fits the desired criteria so what’s the problem?

So I recommend you choose one of Mike’s and get on with it.

If people decide to go with a pro script, my vote goes to Slumdog Millionaire.

I'm just a poor boy nobody loves me.  It's cool.

I'm really not pimping my own work here.  I just figured the options were limited based on the parameters and what everyone is looking to do, so I figured I'd throw out a couple suggestions.

Scaramouche, scaramouche, will you do the fandango.

I vote for a Shelton script, since it seems to fit all the criteria people want. I also vote Mike gets to pick the script, based on which one he thinks would most benefit from our collective attention.

I don't have an issue with or aversion to doing one of Mike's scripts.

I think we should make a rule in the Script Club that you are allowed to pimp your own script.  I don't have a problem with that and I suspect no one else does either.  Out on the boards, it's a different matter but in here we're all friends - right Pia?
