I'm amazed this couldn't wait until mike and I had a draft done by tonight/Sunday, instead we are still waiting for a poll that proves people had pretty much decided on Coffee and Inspiration. ... Same script that was suggested days ago...
Well, it appears that Coffee & Inspiration has come out on top, so I just thought I'd chime in here real quick since I noticed a lot of people have d-loaded the script off my site in the past few days.
The script on my site and the script on SS are different. The endings go in completely opposite directions, and I just wanted to mention it since people discussing different versions of a script could be potentially disastrous, especially in relation to the ending.
Please decide the version you'd like to use before you begin your reading. For all intents and purposes, the version that is here on SS is what was picked and ultimately filmed. The version on my site was tweaked after another filmmaker found it, but it ultimately fell through.
Yes, Coffee & Inspiration did take it in the polls, and I would definitely select the one that was filmed, so it'll be the one on SS as opposed to Shelton's site. I'll have that link and new thread up shortly.
I also thought I would answer a couple other things that cropped up here. First, to Wes's inquiry as to up selecting scripts with pages of feedback or something produced. We found in reading a produced script that we get a different sort of benefit from reading something produced/polished than something that could use a fresh set of eyes for feedback.
For scripts from this site in desperate need of a read, we approach the scripts from a perspective of giving feedback to the writer to help improve the work. We get an idea of other people's individual styles and what they look for in a script as well as bounce feedback off of other people in an active forum as opposed to the piecemeal feedback one generally gets. It's more beneficial to the writer than anyone else, though.
For produced scripts, we dig into what possessed someone to produce the script to begin with. We look into strengths and weaknesses as well as how the script works within its own genre. It shows us why something was marketable and is more beneficial to the entire group since the writer generally won't benefit from anything we say (unless they lurk, and I wouldn't put it past them).
As for Pia's comment, well, hindsight is always 20/20 and there were a plethora of suggestions thrown out. I did have your collaboration up until you asked me to take it down. At the time I removed it, it was 50/50 between it and Coffee & Inspiration. You said the draft would be done over the weekend, so I had the poll go to Sunday to allow that time. Before it was removed from the running, the vote could have gone either way, and I figured it was between those two scripts all along. Once the collab was removed, it was a landslide and the poll lost its true purpose.
