I am a brand new guy here. I have found a producer who wants my script but I have no idea how much is the regular price for a script. This guy seems really excited about it. can somebody give me an idea how much a script is worth for a movie?

the minimum pay for a WGA member is $50,000.  If you have a potential sale here, i seriously recommend getting an agent or an entertainment attorney.

Well yes this guy is very interested and my problem is that I have no one to help me out, How can I find an agent in 24 hours in the Phoenix area?
Sincerely I know that Stallone received a bid for Rocky for 265.000 dollars just 30 years ago and on screenwriter 101 they say that th average is between 300.000 and 600.000 dollars.

If you have proof that someone is interested in buying your spec,  then finding an agent should be no problem

Yeah, seriously. 50,000 being the minimum really gives me some motivation. I always thought that writers didn't make that much. Jeez, I was wrong. Imagine making 500,000 for a script?!? That'd be awesome.

well this guy offered me about 400.000 in 18 month. I am just looking for an agent or an entertaiment attorney. Thank for your advice, I just need an attorney and after that............. I could ask even more but I am not so greedy I hope I can close the deal in this way. I will let you know if the deal will be completed and I will give you more details.

You can sell a script for up to 500 000 seriously if you're that good but that's probably like titanic S*it and people that are super famous, Titanic is the worst movie from a story and it's boring but hey the writers probably got paid for the thing since it made so much in the box office

There was not one period in that entire post. Titanic was not the WORST movie from a story (whatever the hell that means), that's just what guys say because they want to act cool. It's not even close to one of the worst movies. Troll 2 comes to mind. Killer Klowns from Outer Space. James Cameron wrote it. How did you not know that? He wrote some great movies before that.

neways, what do you all think about starting off small?  i mean, starting off with some low-budget thing that a relatively unknown producer is trying to get going?  worht the effort?  will it help you at all?

When I sign the contract I will let you know and about the script it is too early to put on line don't you agree?

yes, forget these people, work on your deal.

if you have these offeres in writing, you should be able to retain an entertainment attorney pretty easily.

If anyone here is interested in what screenwirters are selling and how much they're getting,  log onto "the hollywood reporter" website...once a week they list the sales for the previous week, including who wrote it, who bought it, genre, and how much they paid.

yes alan, a secret team of experts browse the internet all day, find posted scripts, write down their information, then add them to this big list they made.  Then based on internet exposer ect, they calculate the exact depreciation, print it, and send it to every agent in america.

If you're a union writer, which costs a relatively low amount of money to become, then the minimum amount you can be paid for a script is $50,000.  If you're trying to sell your script for non union production you are wasting your time.  If thats what you're into thats fine, writing scripts for your indy buddy to shoot on a high 8 in exchange for 50$, but thats not officially selling a script.  Non union script sales are practically meaningless, it would be like a little league coach paying a 13 year to play, then that 13 year old claiming to be a professional athlete.  I guess literally he got paid, but it doesnt really mean anything.
