Well, I, for one, enjoyed National Treasure and, yes, it appears that NT2 may be in the works. Check out what JoBlo has to say. Don |

I believe the key will be how they do it. If it is a use of the characters in a situation that does not have anything to do with the title, it probably won't work. If they rehash the plot of the first movie, not allowing the characters any growth, it probably won't work.
The key to a good sequel is to take the key title character or situation (it's why there a '2' or whatever on the end of it), and use it in a new way that allows the audience to experience a new story with familiar situations or characters.
Nick Cage may have been the star of the first movie, but he was not the title character. While that technically makes him expendable, they'll probably keep him. I hope they make it work. |

I liked National Treasure. I love stories that have a historical basis (that aren't period pieces). But did you notice that Cage's character always knew what to set on fire, pull, or press during the whole movie? Pull the brick here instead of look behind it, put the pipe here and turn, etc.
I don't mind if there's a sequel, I'll probably see it anyway just to see what the story is about. |

I thought that NT was an amusing enough time-passer (if somewhat overlong) - However there was nothing about it that was striking enough to warrant a second movie. The Nic Cage character isn't exactly as 'iconic' as Indy Jones...
I think it's a half-decent stand-alone movie, but this is a franchise that I feel no pressing need to return to as a viewer. |

In a recent interview with comingsoon.net Bruckheimer discussed a sequel to National Treasure.
“For 'National Treasure', we came up with a wonderful idea, a true incident in American history that's a wonderful jumping off point for 'National Treasure 2,' and Nick [Cage] is excited about doing the movie. He likes the idea of what we're pursuing, so hopefully, we'll get that done towards the end of the year."

I thought National Treasure was awesome. It's not a big visual effects movie or anything, but who cares? It's story was great, the quality of the film making was great, there was no bad content in it (doesn't happen often these day's), great acting, ext.
I can't wait for NT 2 to come out. I thought it was a great film. At least, it's better than most as far as story and quality goes. |

Director Jon Turteltaub recently talked with LA Daily News. It seem that the sequel will start filming the first of the year. " We are just about to start preproduction," says Turteltaub. " We'll have Nic, Justin Bartha, Diane Kruger, Jon Voight and Harvey Keitel... Everyone's back except anyone who's in jail or died." The sequel will take the crew to " exciting destinations within America as well as around the world. As we were shooting the first one, it kept changing, so I'm scared to commit to anything, but I wouldn't be surprised if Mount Rushmore made an appearance." -Zavier |

I really didn't know what to make of the first. I guess it was just fun really. A good popcorn movie you can sit and watch at anytime with anyone. That's why I liked it and also because of Diane Kruger... mmmmmmmmm... oh and Nic Cage is one of my favourite actors too. I'm not sure who it was, probably Justin Bartha (the younger one in the first) who was so annoyingly unfunny. He spoiled a lot of the film for me. I hope he dies in the first few minutes in the sequel... that's harsh but you know... |

I'm sure Cage's character could've stolen the Declaration of Independence without Riley.

I can see a National Treasure two, but I would like to know the plotline of the movie. The first was great. But I can't see the second doin wonders. I'll see it but I doubt it has much to offer. |
