Looking at the comments above, though, I can't help but feel that a large proportion of the readers feel I'm not qualified to offer informed opinion.
That's a lame excuse WA.
If you can't handle some criticism then I think you really need to reconsider any attempt at screenwriting. Everyone is well aware that this is a ONE WEEK CHALLENGE and not a true indication of your overall skill. Any writer, professional or amateur, has to deal with criticism. The big questions is, can you use the feedback and return a stronger person for it?
Don't let some negative comments bring you down. Deal with it and show everyone that you can do better. But to use that as an excuse for not reading other people's entries is weak.
It's encouraging to see the activity in this forum. Clearly there is a great deal of passion out there.
To correct an erronious conclusion, let me say that I did, in fact, read every entry during the competition. More than once.
I didn't comment, that's true. And probably wouldn't have done even if I hadn't had password problems. I'm (clearly) not an experienced or learned scriptwriter and felt inadequate to the task of commenting on other's work when my own lacked style.
I regret that my hesitation appears to have been an error, or a breach of protocol. The forum has spoken, and I have heard the message. I apologise to anyone who feels an apology is required, and thank everyone for your involvement in the debate.
End of thread.
