Are you telling me that Banana Chan wasn't the best script ever posted on these boards? Get outta here!

Phil

The only positive thing he ever did was get banned. His series was perfect in his mind but he kept mutilating it until he created a mess. In a sense, he raped Banana Chan.

Anyway, all garbage aside (and I mean that series) we had a chance and we blew it.

After numerous pretty please's from Alan, I read the first chapter.  After posting my review, I felt I got raped.

And it wasn't even an off-the-wall review.  That's the funny part.

I read about 15 episodes of the first draft and didn't get anything from it but I got my revenge in script form and in serving him form.

Did you know he threatened me and the site who hosts the scripts which i take shots at his series with a lawsuit? Then when I called him out on it he apologized and started being all friendly with me.

You see his acting debut in that no budget Canadian film? He should stick to stalking gir... I mean writing.

I think I still have the pm's that he sent me after I critiqued his script.  He really has not grip on reality, that boy.

Was his film the war film where all the extremely white guys talked urban?

Yeah, I love when a bad idea is made into a film using guys with pictures of them selves on a wall.

Do you ever feel like thanking Alan for being a punchline to every joke imaginable?

He's good that way.

But to everyone wanting the awards, try to find the thread in general Chat which has the script Alan wrote for the awards using his characters. Classic material.

Or the donut thread where he poorly apologized for his actions.

Hey, I accepted Alan's incompetence as a writer; he wasn't.

Not being here very long I of course had no idea what people were talking about. So with the help of the SS search engine have just had an entertaining hour reading some of the posts you are talking about. It's a shame this Alan bloke was not still around - for entertainment value of course. He certainly seemed to annoy a few people, Phil in particular!

Does anybody have a link to one of the threads that have Phil and Alan are fighting in? Sounds like something fun to read.

All the good stuff was deleted.  Apparently, one or two of the moderators thought I went too far.  Can you believe that?  Me?

My personal favorite was in response to Alan telling us that his family was at risk of losing their home due to financial reasons.  Rather than get a job to help, he chose to dedicate all his time on BC so, when it was produced, he'd have enough money to buy a new home.

I ripped him a new one for that.  The guy was, like, 27 years old and he wasn't contributing to his family at all.

And then there was the donut thread....

Boy, everyone is stupid except me

I feel the need to share this, as it relates to the current conversation.

Alan Holman still talks to me.

He’s a friend through facebook and I must admit he’s an annoying one.

He’s constantly sending me spam and stupid chain letters and he continues this even though I’ve asked him to stop.

However, when he’s not spamming me all he talks about is Simply Scripts and how he desperately wants to return.

Here’s what he wrote me recently:

“Bruce -

I miss SimplyScripts a lot. As you know, Don banned me without explanation at a time when the entire first season of Banana Chan was about to be live on the site, in its entirety, for the first time ever -- something I'd been trying to do for a very long time. So basically, he hurt me very bad without explanation.

Please help me come up with ideas to get me back onto the site. And if you know of any other SimplyScripts regulars on facebook, please direct me to their profile so I can f-list request them.

Peace.”

I feel that the first part is a lie. I recall a thread, “Little Darling” I believe, where Don gave him a clear warning to cool it or else. I’m also sure that Don would give at least some kind of explanation for a ban. Second, I didn’t follow Banana Chan but I thought the first season had already been posted. In fact I recall him posting at least 32 episodes or so. Not including the dozens of revised episodes that popped up almost monthly. I might be wrong though.

I have to say I agree with what has already been stated. Alan was all about Banana Chan and nothing else. There would be times where he seemed to promote other works by other authors (Better Days, Reporting Live, The Lunchroom) but that was only to get more promotion out for his series. When Alan worked on my series he constantly put Banana Chan references in scripts and then would get irate with me, when I would take all of them out.

He had a big hand in our show in Season 2 (which ironically is considered the worst) but he was eventually let go because he was suggesting ridiculous ideas and fighting with other writers. In one of our forums (we have our own forums for writers) he ranked the top 5 episodes – which were all written by him. The last straw was when he threatened us because he couldn’t access the forums anymore. He said if we didn’t create an entirely new forum board, sorely for him, he would start to spread bad things about our show. Can you believe that?

I’m still in shock when he had the audacity to claim he was the best series writer AND then admitted that he was lying to Steven Cameron about liking “Better Days” only because of the Banana Chan references. That’s a dick move if I’ve ever seen one.

In all honesty, I’m not really in favor of him coming back. While he did help get my show out there and helped write some (7 episodes in total), I think he has a very big ego, can’t take criticism, and plays up the whole innocent act when people start calling him out on his crap.

Then again, it’s just one man’s opinion.

P.S.
Alan also mentioned that because of the ban he can’t even access the site. Every time he tries to access it, it simply says “404 Not Found” or something along those lines. Can you really not even access the site anymore after a forum ban or is this just Alan fishing for sympathy?

Even if someone is very annoying and liked only by few, if any. it doesn't seem right to have ongoing negative discussions about that person when they have no way to respond...

There were a couple of different drafts of Banana Chan up.  Alan would put them up, beg everyone to critique, take it out and repost it it with very minor changes in it and start it all over again.

Alan's life was Banana Chan.  He put his entire life into it.  In the first one week challenge, his entry had BC characters in it.

I can't believe this one.  If you're not logged in, you should be able to view the site.

I remember reading that Alan wouldn't even read scripts for a review exchange.  He'd simple glance the other reviews on the thread and copy opinions.  And God forbid you didn't like BC.  I still have the pm's that he said, slamming me for not thinking his work was the best thing since Shakespeare.

Besides,  he's the one thing that we can all agree on.
