My local paper is reporting that Charlton Heston is dead, not read it anywhere else yet though. I guess it it true though. He was a great actor in his day and will be forever remembered as one of the greats. EDIT: The BBC have it now so guess it is confirmed.

Saddened to hear this...I always admired Heston. If you never read it, I cannot recommend his autobiography An Actor's Life highly enough.

Goodbye, Taylor. Guess as Dr.Zaius predicted, you've found your destiny.

13 feature scripts, 2 short subjects. One sale, 4 options. Nothing filmed. Damn.

Currently rewriting another writer's SciFi script for an indie producer in L.A.

From his cold, dead hands indeed.

Can't say I'm a big fan of Heston's. I wouldn't personally put him up there with the all time greats, but he was pretty brilliant in the original Planet of the Apes.

To quote The Office: "He will be missed. Not by me, so much. But he will be missed."

That was only to mention the two things that I thought of most about him.

Ten Commandments and his NRA work.

Sorry, if that put you off...

How about this instead.

I find it sad when someone who's lived to be 80+ years old, has a loooooooooong history in film. Has won at least one oscar and numerous other awards and on and on and people go, "meh, I was never crazy about his work" and then some celebrity who hasn't done much at all (other than being famous and young) dies people go on and on about how tragic their death is, how great they were and what a true loss their death is.

That's what I meant, but I guess it didn't come across that way...

And lets show some respect by spelling his name correctly!

Thanks Pia, sorry about that - I have changed it now.

Heston was in a lot of great movies--The Ten Commandments and Planet of the Apes.  He also did a couple of stinkers--Soylent Green and The Omega Man.  And then there's the shitburger, Bowling for Columbine, but you can't blame him for that.

The last thing I saw him in was Wayne's World 2.  While he was in it for only thirty seconds, he was great.

I think I'm going to watch Planet of the Apes today in honor of him.

You will be missed, sir.

Hey,

He is an icon. His film legacy and advocacy work will be remembered for many years to come. But besides his work in film and for our second amendment rights, I've heard he was a pretty good guy.

So, I hope you're blastin' away the big beer cans in the sky, Chuck.

God bless,
