Have any of you folks ever heard of this site:

InkTip

You can post loglines for filmmakers to see and contact you.  It's interesting, but I wanted to see if anyone here had had any experience with it.

I think this logline from Comedy Short Scripts sound good:

"A weary Mom is suffering through her son's visit. He's an egotistical TV anchor who can't relate in anything but TV speak."

I had my feature screenplay posted there for 6 months (u must pay a fee) without any success but I can't blame them, my log line sucked (script too, lol) so...

I also had my short there (It's free to post) and I got two or three emails asking me to send them my short.

If your screenplays (shorts) are "ready to go" u must post them, u have nothing to lose.

Good luck...

I used them once. Never got anywhere with them, but I suspect my logline sucked too. My loglines always suck. I can't write a logline to save my life.

I do still get their weekly "scripts wanted" email though, and that's at least interesting. I think maybe I might actually have something someone is looking for...

Apologies, I've just grown rather weary of most of these services that offer quick opportunities for screenwriters.  I've used Inktip and spoken to a few people who have used it as well with NO RESULTS.  It just doesn't make sense to me: production companies get BOMBARDED with query letters every day, why would they go on this site where ANYONE can post their stuff?  Why would they waste their time?

With my last script, "Based on a True Story", I spent a lot of time going through several websites that offered stuff like this to help you out.  Another was a query-letter service which offered to send your letter out to 900+ companies.  The problem with that?  If you go through their list only 197 are actually usable.  The rest are either tv companies, soft-core porn, or haven't made a film in 10+ years.

I just feel like, if it's too good to be true, it most likely is.   I wouldn't waste my time with Inktip again.

EDIT:  If anyone has had success with Inktip (even getting a bite), I'll retract my statement.

I've heard quite a few people who got optioned or sold by posting their scripts here at SS. It's free...  but personally if I ever had anything sold of mine that was discovered here, I would use that nifty donation option that Don has on the home page.

I don't think I know anyone who's been sold or optioned from InkTip.

If you type in "Inktip Success Stories" into Google you'll find a few.  But if you actually look into them,  you'll find that NOTHING ever came of them.

And plus, SS wasn't created to sell your script (and is free) and doesn't advertise itself as a means to do so; it's just a pleasant surprise if you do.  Inktip boasts of its success stories and how it will help you out, but as it stands right now, I see no concrete proof in their favor.

Just trying to save the good people at SS their hard-earned money.

I also know for a fact that some industry people do peruse the scripts here. Features and shorts.

Just remember to blow Don a kiss every now and then in appreciation.

Never tried Inktip with features.

But I had a great experience using the (free) short section. Sold two shorts thanks to them.

Good to hear.

I'd still probably be hesitant to throw money their way for features.

I'm a member of Inktip, on the other side of things to most of you lot.

Jerrol (the guy who runs it) is a cool guy and phones me up from time to time to see if I have any specific needs. He does vet the site to a certain level, asking for Industry references and that kind of thing.

I've seen some decent scripts on there and talked to some interesting writers, but I've never optioned anything.

Quite a few award winning or placing scripts from some of the bigger festivals (Nicholls etc) end up there, so it's interesting to read them if nothing else.

It's definitely possible to sell your script on there, but I think it tends to be smaller production companies that are represented on there these days. I've heard that the big boys did check it out when it first started, but they have all but dwindled away, but i don't know anything about that.

You've probably got as much chance of selling something on here in all honesty.

You do get "leads" from them. For instance if I tell Jerrol that I'm looking for a psychological horror, low budget, 5 characters, set in England about cats, he'll post it out to the writers.

That's not bad. You at least could approach someone with a taregtted treatment that you know is in the ball park.
