The mighty St.Kilda Australian football club have just won their 17th game of the season. They remain undefeated after smashing the third placed western Bulldogs by 43 points.

Needless to say, I'm pretty stoked about this...

I hope they cop the Pies in the first week of the finals on a wet and rainy day at the G.

Actually I'd probably prefer to play the Cats in week one and avoid the Saints until the GF. Then I'd like the heavens to open up.

The New England Patriots were 16-0 going to into the Super Bowl last year.  They wanted to copyright the phrase "17-0."

They had their asses handed to them.

FYI.

The Pats were actually 18-0 on Super Bowl day. I have been thinking of that Phil, trust me!

Chris, a Magpie lad, ay? Yeah, we could play you first up. I'd like to see you guys beat Geelong in the prelim. It's gonna be interesting, for sure.

Aussie slang. It means I hope that the St Kilda football has to play the Collingwood football club, AKA the Magpies, AKA the Pies in the first week of the finals (play-offs)

In fact I might start using Aussie slang all the time for now on. Sure, most of you guys won’t know what I’m talking about but it might make me seem more exotic.

Back on topic, unless the Saints have a bad run of injuries I can't see anyone stopping them. This is why I hope it rains if the Pies have to play them. That'd take the skill out of the game and just turn it in to a wet weather slog which would give us a better chance of winning as we're a pretty good wet weather team and the Saints play most of their games at Etihad Stadium which is an indoor stadium.

Here you go, a bit of Leon magic from Friday night's game.

BTW, gotys isn't more slang. It was a typo which was supposed to mean goals.

Yeah top goal by Neon. That guy is a freak. Imagine him and Milney in each pocket!

I was getting worried about playing at the G in the finals. But we have three outdoor games before then and we did have three finals games there last year.

I only think us, Geelong and you guys can win the flag. The others are realistically no chance, who ever gets in the 8.

19 in a row now Stevie.

And my boys have jumped into outright third after their win over the Crows. After a slow start to the season we've won something like 10 out our last 11 games now. I'm excited about our chances of playing in the Grand Final but with the way the Saints are going it's hard to see anyone beating them. So I'm feeling a mixture of hope and dread.

Hey Chris, I'm watching AFL Gameday now. I tipped the Pies and I still tipped the Saints even with heaps out.
I reckon you guys could knock off Geelong in the first final if you play them. Or in a prelim.
I just hope we make the GF and see what happens after that. Cheers buddy.

If you're into omens and stuff, and know I'm an absolute Beatles freak, Grand final day is September 26, which is the 40th anninversary of the Abbey Road album...

So they should've!! Richmond...woeful.

I think we'll hammer the Bombers tonight.

Did you see the Bulldogs/Lions game, Chris? Rocket said it was their best win of the season but I wasn't overly impressed with them.

Lucky the Saints are flying....my EPL team Aston Villa lost to Wigan on the opening day last night....sigh.  Gary will be happy with the Gunner's sweet six though!

The Nfl pre-season started too and my Niners beat Denver.  It's all happening at the moment. How the hell do we get time to write?!!

I only follow the AFL.

I didn't watch the Bulldogs game. I saw a bit of the Cats Swans game. The Cats were lucky to win.  Next week should be an interesting one between them and the Dogs. I don't know who I want to win. I like the idea of Geelong losing because it'll mean they'll have less momentum going into the finals and might be easier to beat but on the other hand if the Dogs lose we'll have third spot sewn up if we beat the Swans at the G.

Essendon 110
St Kilda 108

And the nineteen game winning streak comes to an end.

Imagine if you were a St Kilda supporter and you went to your first live game for the year today. How pissed off would you be?

The pressure is off us now...well, some of it. No more crap about undefeated season.
Great fightback by the boys after being 7 goals down.

weird feeling today for me though. Not used to losing!

Well, we (Man Utd) got off to a good start.

AFL? AFL?

So not a sport for an Englishman! I shall have to put up with it when I arrive in Oz it would seem.

Two losses in a row, are the wheels falling off the St Kilda bandwagon? If the game is on the line next week, they might not want to give the ball to Riewoldt again.

After yesterday's results three of the five TripleM commentators said they thought Collingwood will win the premiership. If we do, it'll be because the Saints and Cats had peaked too early and we timed our run just right. Apparently we have the least injuries out of the top 4 teams. In fact we don't have any injuries. Every player on our list is available for selection. The only thing that worries me is that we have to play our last game of the home and away season on Sunday afternoon which means we'll get less rest than our opponents for the first final. This worries me because if that ends up being the difference between winning and losing the first final it might be hard to win the flag. With the top four teams being so even this year the week's rest will be crucial. I think the premiers will be one of the two teams that gets the rest in the second week.

Hi Chris. I don't think the pies willl be affected by a 6 day break. Then agaain why diidn't they move the twilight game back to , say, 1pm?

If the bullies beat you by 30+ points anyway, they'll take 3rd and you'll be playing us first. Then you'll have 7 days!

All the talk about us beinig fragile and Geelong sruggling is just that: talk.

come the fortnight, it all starts again. If you play the cats that is a 50-50 game in my book. and I think we will back to our true form v the dogs. they will have to play mighty well to beat us.
Cheers man!
