Charlie Brooker. He's about as English as they get in my opinion. Here's his latest column in the only English paper I can take seriously,

I'd be intererested in what non UK types think of the guy. Having said that fellow country(wo)men's opinions are also sought.

Personally the man always makes me laugh via the printed word. A lot. This is a quality I prize highly in any indvidual.
I've been laughing my arse off at his stuff for years, The very fact he got a great job at the otherwise fairly stuffy and serious Guardian makes it even funnier in my opinion. What do you think?

Some of his stuff is great. He writes a column about UK TV shows that might not make much sense to you but he always cracks some good lines.

If you delve into some of his stuff you'll find some absolute gems. He has a way of putting words together that I do quite envy.

He started writing a very edgy website called TVGoHome. It was was the funniest things I'd seen on the web at the time. From that he got a job reviewing games, then the Guardian job, one of the very few decent UK papers. All from a risky website that might have landed him in court.

It's good to know stuff like this travels well. Have a dig into the archive on there. Phrases are uttered that make me weak.

Surely we must be due for a new series of 'Screenwipe' anytime now?

Indeed. Screenwipe is sadly missed. Who doesn't love a man who looks like Lurch with a wit that could cut steel grouching about meaningless telly? In a small flat. In the dark. Personally I loved it.

His recent TV 'TV series on 4 was okay but a bit weak for him. Too gameshowy in style. He needs to watch QI. Now don't get me started.

By the way, for those interested....The crowd drifts away like those generals in Hitler's bunker in Downfall I'm now hopefully fully back online. I can finally fulfill those long promised reads. Apolgies to those put out. You have no idea how fustrating it was. Like watching porn with your hands tied behind your back. What? Stop it! Oh dear. Oh dearie me. He's gone all Carry on again.

That Charlie is a classic!

Hey RV, i've been reading a book by Russell Brand, 'Articles of Faith', a compilation of his Guardian football columns. Funny stuff!  I'd heard of him but never knew what he did, etc. Even amongst the jokes, he writes some incisive shit.

"'Santa looks like a skinny bloke in his 20s sweating his way through a prison sentence."

Being which Charlie gets puerile by trying to get Santa to say rude names in the guise of reading out children's names for £1.50 a pop. Bargain!

Made me laugh anyway...
