Pulling out the 'mental illness' card is too liberal, even for a liberal. Firstly, is there unwavering evidence of said illness? Should he be extradited - now, that's difficult. Crime is not comparable, so saying it's not murder dances around the key issue, which is justice. Would justice be served by him going to the States? Tough one.
Tony Blair. 'Tone' was a good PM who made a decision to go to Iraq, just like any other PM would have. Does that excuse his - in my opinion incorrect - decision? No. However, it exonerates him as gutless in my book. The trouble isn't Tony Blair, it's a widespread political problem, which permeates all levels of western political activity.
It's so hypocritical to shun those who make the 'decisions' while basking in the glory of their dirty work. If people are so truly offended by the western world, then why not disconnect? I mean, sure, that's unrealistic, but moaning about the way things are while happily living in the product is stinking hypocrisy. To those who feel so passionately about redressing the balance - act, don't speak. Now, do I think the world is fair? No. But talk is cheap.
At this time, I think of Jack Nicholson and Tom Cruise in the court room in 'A Few Good Men'.
TB didn't practise what he preached. He was a charismatic guy, but he took the UK into a war, still being fought, on a false basis. 45 minutes, whiter than white, education, education, education. Then he bins grants. Overdrafts, overdrafts, overdrafts...
As for the latest Iraq inquiry, they don't even have the balls to do it in public. A private inquiry - this is the stuff of The Thick Of It and In The Loop. New Labour are over. Mandy's return was scraping the barrel.
Apologies to all those now bored silly. End of rant.
They could have tried McKinnon over here, Jaqui Smith said no. Hence all the trouble. They still can, if they kick up enough of a stink they might.

I agree that grants shouldn't have been abolished, 'cos I now have a substantial student loan; however, it wasn't - financially - sustainable to retain the previous structure with the influx of 18+ going into higher education. The enormous growth - aligned with the rise of New Labour - was made possible because of the restructuring. So, do we have fewer graduates with lesser debt, or more students with more debt?
We can't have it both ways. And therein lies the problem, 'cos this is a huge issue, and it can't be summed up with a soundbite.
Mandy! What a man. Did you see his Newsnight interview this week? Entertaining stuff.
I saw a little of Mandy. I have to say he does make me feel a little ill every time I see him. He's the perfect example of a champagne socialist.
I'd say taking grants away stopped a lot of kids going to Uni, the rest have to suffer at the hands of the banks for the duration. And banks aren't well known for their sympathetic tendencies. The robbing thieving banker basterds.
Tis a huge issue. I do think Labour have let everybody down, including themselves. McKinnon is a typical example of them bending over for the US. The other way round and the US would have to the UK to feck off.

Undeniably, the regulatory framework in the UK - the same across the globe - didn't deal with mismanagement of large sums of money; however, this is merely a product of our capitalist culture. Greed permeates our society, and y'know, logically, people get the best for themselves, irrespective of the industry.

Don't know enough about this one (the extradition treaty), but clearly they're making an example of him. I can say that I do not feel an ounce of pity for him, however.
