Thought I'd start a thread for poor old Keith who died yesterday of a small stroke.

I fear he may get Aldous Huxley syndrome in light of Swayze's death.

I see Sniper knew of Floyd so he managed to get famous outside of the U.K.. I think he deserved that as he was damn fine telly.

Compared to recent TV chefs Floyd had real personality and style. I have no interest in food or cooking but I always watched Floyd as he made me smile. A rare skill.

I just read Wikipedia's article on him.

Whatever they say about him, the man certainly lived a full life, an achievement in itself in my book. Here's a flavour....

Quoted from Wikipedia
Illness and death

In 2002 Floyd, a smoker and drinker, suffered a small stroke, and in November 2004 he was banned from driving for 32 months and fined £1500 after crashing his car into another vehicle while three-and-a-half times over the legal alcohol limit.[7]

He collapsed at a pub in Chesterton, Staffordshire on 29 January 2008 and was admitted to hospital. He was released on 22 February, travelling to his home in France to recuperate. [8] He made a full recovery and was back on his feet shortly afterwards.

On 29 July 2009 it was reported that Floyd was diagnosed with bowel cancer in mid-June. He underwent five serious operations, which removed 90% of the cancer; he subsequently underwent a course of chemotherapy at Nîmes Hospital.[9]

Floyd died of a heart attack, aged 65, on Monday 14 September 2009, at his partner's home, in Dorset.[10] His last appearance was featuring in a documentary about his life which aired 14 September 2009, the same day he died.

[edit] Personal life

All his four marriages ended in divorce, his most recent divorce, from Tess, was in 2008. Floyd had a son Patrick (born 1969/70) by his first wife and a daughter Poppy (born 1983/4) by his second.[11]

He was stopped by a diner in his restaurant who saw the chaos around him. The diner asked Floyd, (who was my now half cut on good wine) why he was having so much trouble. Floyd replied "My boy, the bloody staff don't bother to turn up half the time, when they do bother they're no bloody good and the customers aren't much cop either. Now piss off and leave me alone, I'm busy!"

Hehe, yeah, Floyd was definitely a character, you could just feel his love of life (with all it brought with it). He was pretty popular here in Denmark, some of the big companies here actually used him quite a lot in commercials a few years back.

RIP
