Famous for roles in "The Wicker Man - the 73 original. You know, the good one."  and the Equilizer... One of my all time favorite tv shows.  Loved the intro, with the car and smoke and music.  Dude was a tough ol' goat.

Oh dear. Not a bad fella at all. I watched him playing a hard type character in "Callan" when I was but lad.

This is sad news - I grew up with Callan (one of the all time great TV shows), and was sad to see it not mentioned when the news was announced.

He had still been working on TV until very recently, in the UK soap "Eastenders", so the news of his death was a bit of a shock.

He lives on in his work - he may have done relatively little - Callan, The Wicker Man, The Equalizer being the main ones, but it was quality work. He took the brave decision to walk away from Callan at the height of his success in the role, because he did not want to be typecast, and chose The Wicker Man because it was so radically different.

He will be missed. For us Brits I suppose CALLAN was his defining roll, along with the WICKER MAN. The EQUILIZER was always compared to his roll in CALLAN and wasn't really the same quality.

Was CALLAN ever shown in the US?

Rest in peace Edward.
