With a new year on the run, I wanted to see who had their work advanced over 2009. Who was optioned? Who was sold? Heck, who had a film done with their script?
I know this site has a wealth of talanted writers and it would be great to see what the tally might be for those who put their work on this site and got nibbles or bites. Or best yet filmed.
So come on, lets see who shined last year. Let us know the great things being done with your work.
Also had a couple of shorts filmmed this year, Don't Go In The Bathroom and The Honeymoon Is Over (in post atm). Both of which were picked up from this site.
I was hired to write a feature which I talked about on the second SS Radio podcast and did some minor promotional work for the first feature I sold. Not sure how much of it will get used in the end but some people here have seen it and some of the writing has been used by people who have no idea who I am so I guess that's something. I also directed a short documentary about 1Guy1Cup and viral videos in general which features some people watching the video and someone else drinking toilet water. I'd post a link but I'm still not sure how good it is. Still, each film is a learning experience just as each script is.
Not a bad year. Hoping 2010 will be better though.
I've wanted to read "Complete" for quite a while now, after reading some of the comments, but I owe other reads first. I tell myself I'll get to it once the 13 hour weekdays subside - though I'm not quite sure how they'll subside...
As for me, I feel 2010 is going to be a big one. Don't want to jinx myself yet, but hopefully things are happening.
--finished my novel, The Fempiror Chronicles: The Initiation of David and published it on Amazon
--presented the preview album for a musical I worked with ten years and made it available on Amazon
--completed the feature that I wrote, produced, directed, shot, and wrote the music for
--completed the soundtrack for said feature and made the soundtrack available as well
--wrote a "Creature Feature" script for a guy named Randy Robinson who is still working on it
--and I think that's it.
It looks like a lot, but I had a lot of down time as well to hang with you fine people.
For my 2010, I'm looking at at least shooting another feature, completing a concept album for a music I wrote a long time ago, and publishing one or two more Fempiror novels...at least.
-Started development on "Casting Kristin" (attached 2 actors) -Optioned "Based on a True Story" in Germany -Had my short "The Sandwich Days" produced
Not a bad year, I'd say. Didn't churn out too much in the actual writing department, outside of "Casting Kristin", but I plan to be more on top of things in 2010.
All great reports. My 2009 wasn't anything really but I am hopeful going into 2010. Last year I completed one feature and two shorts. Thats it. I am still in the learning phase but hope to start getting calls like you guys in the next few years.
Congrats to the ones who have posted so far and thanks for sharing your sucess with those of us still chipping away.
** ALSO** Thanks to DON for a great site. This was the first site I ran across trying to learn some of the basics and even though I don't post as much as many of the regulars, I check in daily to see whats going on.
There are many sites out there, but none quite like this.
Keep the great reports comming in. It encourages us who are still waiting on that first call.
