Probably not one of my best ideas, starting this thread. Still, I've had worse.

Just tried to access PB and found my ISP has blocked it. Happily I know all about proxies.

I've always looked at the Pirate Bay to find out what's popular. Now, my ISP has done what it can to stop me even looking. Of course it can't do much and is probably complying with requests from the powers that be. Fair enough. We all have to hear and 'obey' the rooles. Winkers.

However, I find this behaviour rather insulting. I'm a big boy (how big is my business) and I'm a fully fledged adult. At least for legal purposes. The fact I have a somewhat childish nature on occasion is a desperate attempt to stay young. Sadly it ain't working.

What I do online is of no concern to anyone, as I keep it legal. Of course I shout about occasional things, like this. See above line about childishness.

Piracy and everything associated with it is, at best, a grey area as far as the law is concerned.

As far as I am aware looking at dvd, cd and games titles in the form of a list is perfectly legal. I can't say the same for downloading torrents.

Big Brother is grooming his 'tash. I do hope his boot stamping down is still a long way off. However, it seems to be getting closer all the time. Orwell would not be best pleased.

Lame.  What ISP do you have?  I'd be pissed if my ISP, which I'm already at war with, sanctioned what I can and can't look at or do for that matter.  The site itself isn't illegal, by the way.  The content uploaded isn't, either.  It's the bittorrent in which you download/upload to and from.  They have fought this stuff for years and courts always find a way to stop the site for awhile but you'll always see another come back up.

Anyways, Comcast is about as competent as a scientologist...  I have 50mb service, well I'm paying for it anyways, and have yet to receive a second of that speed since I upgraded it.  I have battled with them, got kicked out of the main office here in my area by security and filed a complaint with my local news about the shady going ons with Comcast.  I have, at most, 4mb of download in the daytime and 6mb at night.  My upstream is at an absurd 17mb/. Go figure.  They've sent 13 techs out and nothing has been solved to date.  Then they had the audacity to try and get me to pay my 113 dollar bill on the 15th...

I told them to kiss fuck and that was that.  They have credited my account for 2 months of Internet service in the process but what they don't understand is I want INTERNET, not credits.

Anyways, side tracked rant over... Sucks that ISP's are now regulating content.  Google is set to unleash a 1gb service soon, though.  Must be nice.

Ah now. I'm some reticent to discuss the particular ISP I currently deal with, Balt.

I only just got the thing going, and that took a good few weeks. Needless to say, you know my location. ISPs are somewhat limited around these parts. Very.

Doing a BB speedtest.net told me a few pleasant and unpleasant truths. This modem performs as they said it would. The box and software work perfectly well. Doddle to install too. They tick the boxes there. All grand.

However, this stat is slightly worrying...

Anyone who wants to run the test for themselves can visit here. It's free and useful. A rare combination.

Ah. scientologists. Some of those fellas are very competent at acheiving their aims. Bloody dangerous and all, some of them, in my humble.

However, you find that in all walks of life. I do believe they have an itch called Legion / Anonymous. Makes interesting Youtube viewing. Life can be tough. Sometimes.

Things aren't really going Sciencetoll's way these days. Ho hum. Life goes on.

50meg, Balt? 50? Fif-tee? Bejehusus jehovah. What's going on there? Are you running NASA?

Sometimes shouting ain't the best way to deal with the corporates. A good man like yourself will soon suss these fellas need gentle coaxing, on occasion. Say the right words. And all sorts of magical things can happen. Sometimes...

I can empathise. Thoroughly.

Me no very fond of capitalist business and all its desires. But me need certain things. And by feck I'm gonna get 'em. Oh yes.

What was it Mr. Mercury said one time? Ah yes, "Play The Game".

To do another quote, albeit bastardised, to finish, from the finest character I've seen in ages...

Quoted from The Wire
It's all in the game, yo? You feel me?

P.S. I note those swedes have their act together. Now then, I must tune out... for a lickle while.

I think the blocking of PB is an EU thing. It's the same thing here in Denmark, ISP block PB as well. Accessing PB is easy though, you either can play around with the proxies...or you can just visit hidemyass.com.

Aye lad. Proxies can be handy. Especially when you get strange antics from providers for a service that costs. As far as I can see not every ISP around these parts is complying with the legislation.

Piracy and all that is a big debate.

However, here's an idea. Lay some proper cables and get some decent broadband out there.

Make sure the top 100s on Pirate Bay are available to buy legally online, at an acceptable price. And make sure you put on decent servers so it downloads fast. Very.

Once a movie's done the rounds at the cinema make sure you out it online to buy as above. That would stop a hell of lot of people downloading. And all those copyrighters and writers would get paid.

Silly idea, sorry. Far better moaning about it and stopping people looking at websites. Yeah. That'll sort it out. That'll do.
