Does anyone here have any experience with voice recognition software?
I have played with the idea of whether or not I would find it easier to write if I weren’t so caught up with my writing.
I say that as someone who hen-pecks the keyboard btw.
Sometimes it just seems to take me out of the story when I’m so focused on the keyboard.
So is there something out there like that?
Software that can be used to write screenplays via voice recognition?
Keep in mind, I use Trelby free software so if anyone knows of a free software package that they themselves use and would recommend, that would be great also.
Windows has voice recognition. I tried in in XP, but it is ver yhit and miss. You can search the wen to find how to activate for your version of windows, then you need to buy a microphone. Get a fairly good one, as mine is a 9.99 jobber and that may have lended to the crappy results.
It does a pretty good job, but you still have to proofread of course. For some reason it does not like my accent when he comes to certain words. But overall, I think it's pretty good.
I haven't tried it with FD because I'm the type that writes a sentence, deletes it and then rewrites it five times. In other words, I don't think it's ideal for me for that use. However, if I was the kind of writer that likes to walk around the room and just freeflow, I'd probably use it. It's supposed to work with pretty much any application. I mostly use it for script reviews and emails and occasionally forum posts.

Yeah, I'm a sentence nibbler, like Pia. I only pace and talk out scenes when brainstorming.
It would be really cool to talk out slugs though. Can you revise while talking? Like switch it into an edit mode? Now that would be cool.
