Has the pandemic changed peoples views on how they live and how they want to live post-pandemic?

The pandemic has affected my life enormously. Prior to its existence I'd spent the last decade living and traveling throughout Asia with a trip or two back to Australia each year. I was on my way overland through Indonesia to the Alors when borders started closing and I realized it was time to scamper.

This last year has been difficult as I've had to recalibrate my direction in life, at least for the foreseeable future. The worst part of the whole affair for me is not knowing when I can return to my normal lifestyle - there's no end date. If someone were to say the gates will be open in twelve months, fine, I can deal with that and plan accordingly. As it stands, who knows when I can get back India, Nepal, Indonesia or Thailand, or anywhere. I wonder if I can ever have my old life back - a life that was/is very central to who I see myself as, my identity even. How does one reinvent themselves?

One positive from the pandemic of course is the new found desire to write screenplays.

Now that is a tough combination!

My daughters got screwed - one made a business booking tourist excursions in Hawaii and the other had her own wedding planning service. Had being the operative word - both shuttered.

I believe this is the longest thread at SS...

Anyway, I got my second shot of Phizer today. Now everyone in my family have been vaccinated. It's such a sense of freedom, really. I even booked a vacation over Christmas and New Year today. Most people here where I live seem to be feeling similar to me. Except for some younger people who still refuse to get vaccinated. People are becoming less and less cautious/worried it seems like.

I look forward to doing stuff I didn't used to do very often. I'm going to a movie theater next month! I don't even care what movie it is. I just miss going to the movies. I'm also going to go to a Gator baseball game. Not something I do very often, I just really want to right now. How about you guys? What are you looking forward to do as things slowly get back to normal'ish?

There's nothing I can't do

Actually, not quite true, I can't travel and I want to get back to that, but I can do pretty much whatever I want in Australia.

Also lucky enough to live in the greatest country in the world so domestic travel alone offers a hell of a lot of variety.

Things vary from state to state here. I'm in Florida and we're open. Schools have been open since August for example. I just haven't personally done anything because I didn't want to get the virus. Some states are a lot stricter though. California is one of those.

20 days past my second shot (Pfizer) - went to a casino for the first time in 15 months (orgasm). So relieved to have the shots behind me.

Getting my second shot in a week. Looking forward to getting back to writing cuz this last year knocked me out of it pretty hard. Tried to psyche myself into it but couldn't. Mostly stuff unrelated to covid that I won't bore you with.

I am very, very rusty but I'm currently brainstorming for the OWC.

Also not completely hating my (remote) office type job. I'm never going back to bartending. My liver is overjoyed.

That rug really tied the room together.

Some stuff has just opened up again in England this week (Non-essential shops, pub gardens, zoos and theme parks)

My youngest was born in August 2019 and so has spent most of his life in lockdown, and the only part not in lockdown he was a tiny baby - so I am super excited to take him out to Zoos, theme parks, farm parks... just everywhere lol

Got my first Pfizer dose yesterday... I hope this isn't a Utopia-type stitch-up

I am loving my new 5G feature though.

Although I may only be on 2.5G because I've only had the first one.
