That sucks BIG time Dave! I'm supposed to go on a cruise with my daughter and granddaughter Oct 4th. I don't have to pay in full until July, but now they're saying this virus most likely will come back in the fall again. I won't lose a lot of money if I cancel, just the deposit, but still. This will have long term devastating effects on some industry, I think.

On a lot of folks. Big business, small business - just people.

My daughter is a wedding planner - she is getting slammed with cancellations. I know a couple of restaurant owners - devastated. California just closed every thing down other than take out.

Nasty ride

Dave, I hope they get lots of people complaining and rectify the situation with the proper refunds. This is an extraordinary time and decent businesses are trying to protect their reputations, so I'll cross my fingers for you they do the right thing. ... Unlike all the people who've gone barmy at the supermarkets.

P.S. We went to a wedding a week ago just before everything ramped up. I thought people might cancel but it went ahead. A week later it probably would have been cancelled.

i'm a 40 year old compulsive hand washing, germaphobic introvert who works from home and hasn't had a fever in a decade.  So this hygiene obsessed, social distancing, pandemic life is just like any other day for me.

i live in a small town in california. while the grocery stores are busy and things like rice and toilet paper are no where to be found, there's still plenty of food to be had. so no worries on that front.

i just wish they would stop dragging this out and just lock us all down already... the faster they do it, the faster things can get back to normal again. let's just get it over with.. and maybe we'll be out by mid summer and can still have an NFL season.

No need then to remind you Penoyer to wash your hands.   Hope you're not too freaked out by all this.

Maybe some hand lotion in between washing?
All of us are going to have skin that looks positively reptilian with all the sanitizer and soap... And repeat.

Ok, guys... it seems some of you don't understand why we're being locked down. We're being locked down so as to delay the virus... not stop it. You're going to get it. The virus survives on surfaces for days. So, no matter how well you hide, sooner or later, even years from now, you will get it. The lockdown merely means that your health service doesn't have to cope with all the sick and dead people all at once. So, the 'delay' is to stagger the sick and deaths over a longer period.

This virus is not going anywhere. It is going to be here every year just like swine flu is. Do people still worry about swine flu? The reason you don't is that you have already had it, whether you realise it or not, and your body has built immunity. This doesn't mean you can't get it again, it simply means your immune system is more likely to recognise it before it gets the chance to replicate throughout every cell in your body.

The same is true of this new Coronavirus. If you want this over, then we should all just get it right away and within two months the planet will be back to normal... aside from the mass graves.

We are in a 'delay' phase. Delay doesn't mean never, it means just not yet.

What is true of this and all viruses, as far as I am aware, is that they don't like high temps. When we get hot that is actually our immune system responding to the virus and literally zapping it with heat (this is also why you should allow your body to do its thing and not drop your temps with painkillers too often). So, maybe if you have access to a sauna this will help kill it early before it gets chance to replicate?

I'm about the get a $$$ screwing.

Supposed to to to Hawaii April 3rd. Bought tickets for my wife, daughter, me and son-in-law and rented a beach front condo for ten days. Cost around $10Gs.  I bought travel insurance for all of this (about $500 in total). So, thinking that they may ban domestic air-travel sometime in the next few weeks started looking at my what if I have to cancel options.

Well, turns out there's a clause in the insurance contract that says they do not cover any cancellations due to epidemics. WTF???? So, I'm covered if I get sick from this thing, not covered if I can't travel because someone else might get sick. Doesn't seem right.  Anyway - working on some kind of credit with the airlines - right now their only option is a re-booking within a time frame  that doesn't work for me - but the condo folks are going to stick me for the bill whether or not I can make it.

I need a bail out!

Hope you get your refund or at the very least be credited in full.

The thing is they did suppress it in China. Itís being greatly contained and at a rapid slow down. The regime helped tho I believe.

Just went to the Aldi near my work, tucked away in the hills of the Cotswolds - seems those poshies like to panic buy and hoard food as well.

No toilet roll, pasta, sauces, beans - Fresh meat section almost picked clean which I thought was odd - Yet there was plenty of packet food (noodles, instant pasta, risotto)

The shop had limited every single item to 4 max - which means I can only get a 2 day supply of baby food at a time which pisses me off - shelves were crammed with baby food.

My office is running on a skeleton crew from now on so I'm only in 2 days a week - Work is where I do most of my writing lol my 7WC may suffer as a result.

Another thing I thought of... kids are seemingly immunish and if we look at kids... not like that, Zack (too far?)... what do they do a lot of? They do a shit ton of exercise. So, if you haven't worked out in a while, maybe it's time to get those endorphins flowing. On the plus side, the endorphin system is what's hijacked when you take cocaine, so the high is the same.

I'm still waiting for my work to come in so I've been playing heaps of online chess. I'm a little bored. I've been fitting my own kitchen for around a month now... but I don't think I'm bored enough yet to finish it. Don't mention it to my gf. I've been using distraction techniques to make her forget about it.

Does masturbation count? if so, I think I'm already immune

It only counts when it lasts longer than a few seconds.

Just got off the treadmill. While I was power walking on it, I was watching Contagion! I've never seen it before, so the time flew.

Had a lawn guy here earlier talking about, well, our lawn. We met outside and we kept our distance, so hopefully some businesses can still continue with just small adjustments to how we do things.

My daughter and her husband have both been sent home to work from there since Friday. Their problem is to try to entertain their 3yo daughter who is now getting rather restless. I keep telling them that there's nothing wrong with kids being bored. That's when they develop their imagination and creativity.

Our daughter-in-law is a midwife and they've had a confirmed case at that hospital, so no physical contact with their family for the last two weeks.
