I'm sure many of you have seen this, but if not, here's a pic of Brandon Routh in the new Supes suit. I like it. It's a change, but not too much so. It's a sleeker sort of retro design with muted colors compared to the previous film versions. The only thing I have a problem with this image is his hair, but maybe it's just the angle. |

I couldn't think of it when I originally posted this. In the above pic Routh looks very much like the actor Ken Wahl, perhaps best known for the TV series "Wiseguy". He has pretty much disappeared from acting so some of the younger members here may not know who I'm talking about. |

How can anyone want to see a film with that suit as the hero, sure Superman is an icon but that suit just looks awful. There's something about those booties.
The movie will probably be a moderate hit like the rest in this genre are, I don't doubt that. |

While I like the suit (it is very retro), I don't like Routh as Superman. He's not muscular enough or 'boyscout-looking' enough.

He looks similar to the stereotypical Superman but his head is small, it looks like it doesn't fit his body. Maybe it's the picture, maybe it's the suit making him look odd. |

That costume looks kinda fake. How did that person in the suit get the superman role? He doesn't make a good one. |

I think Routh was a decent choice for Superman, but obviously not as good as Chris Reeve, who we are all comparing him to. It's too early (for me) to judge if he's a bad choice, I've never even heard him speak.
As far as Superman Returns being a "moderate hit" - are you insane? Do you consider the Spider-Man films to be "moderate hits"? Superman will be huge, even if it's not very good. |

Yeah, hair looks a little odd.
Movie should be a huge hit, and hope it's absolutely fabulous, as I'm a Supe fan.
Routh seems alright, but he's got big boots to fill. |

Comic Book Hero costumes rarely look good in shots like these. I'll wait 'til I see it in action before I banish it to the same rank as Halle Berry's Catwoman costume.

I'm not a huge fan of Superman but like I said before it'll come out as an average film and what more can you ask from the people who ruin verything they touch.
I enjoyed Dean Cain but that series was full of bad one liners and at times acting as well. The new series Smallville isn't really Superman, it feels more like The OC with Superman stuff in it. But its good, unlike OC |

I seem to be an outsider whenever I mention the costume around my friends because, well, I think it rocks. The colors are perfect (not too bright but not too dark). More than that, I think Routh looks great as both Supes and Clark Kent (as the latter, he looks just like Reeves). And with Singer overseeing everything, I have the utmost confidence that this will do for Superman what "Batman Begins" will (hopefully) do for the Dark Knight.
Here's hoping we'll see a teaser trailer with "Begins" in June.
Cheers. |

It looks like cheap ass foam padding, sorry. And just for the record, Christopher Reeve never really seemed like Superman to me, I though he was a bit two undertoned, you know. |

Well since Superman is just that... A superman. I'd like to think he'd resemble somewhat of a figure of force. This guy looks like he fell off the pretty boy turnup truck yesterday.
Superman needed to be more buff, more built, more well rounded... Dean Cain was a good figure for him, just not tall enough. I'd think a good Superman would be Shasha Mitchells or hell maybe even that one ass pounder "Ryan Reynolds" He's lookin' buff these days, but he also goes up and down a lot too... one time he'll be 170lbs and the next he'll be 200 and ripped up.
I dunno... this guy is a piss poor choice to me. I don't really care either way though, it's only a super hero movie afterall. |

Yeah, but than again there is a generation of fan boys who will revolt if this film is bad, do you really want to sit through another year of crying and moaning because Superman couldn't live up to the hype? I sure don't.
I think if there is anymore 3 year discussions about a MOVIE Don should just ban all talk regarding movies, or the cry babies. At the end of the day they are just films, 3 years crying about 1 is pathetic. |

Too be honest once would be enough but some people just can't let it go, these boards are almost as pathetic at times as IMDB or Gamefaqs with all the trolls. |

I've always thought that Jude Law would be a good choice for Superman (if he beefed up). He has that chiselled look that Superman needs. Muscles aren't important as the look and this guy Routh doesn't have it.
At the same time, I wanted DeNiro to play Wolverine in the X-Men movies.

There's something about that costume, it looks to small on him. The underwear, the boots and the S logo. They just look too small to me, he looks perfect though accept his butt chin. |

I've been thinking that there's too many non-script related threads on the boards. Anytime you click on the ten most recent posts, you read about people's favorite television shows or movies or songs or (very recently) that guy's wedding.
It's pretty tiresome.

They are in general Chat and or Getting To know You but what do you expect when nobody is willing to chat in the script threads when they're only here for themselves most of the time?
There's only so many of us who want to read, chat and discuss screenplays. I can only think of maybe 20. |

Phil, I know I post quite a bit in the general sections of the board which aren't related to screenwriting. That's what they're there for, general chat.
What exactly is tiresome about it? I have tried to keep the topics in the correct sections, though I admit to posting the songs one accidently in the general section and Don moved it to the music area, and quite rightly so.
Just thought some non related threads would be fun, that's all...

I have no problem with the talk-about-anything part of the boards, except when I look up the ten latest posts. I want to see what people are saying about different scripts, not whether the first season of Stacked will be out on DVD for Christmas.
