I'd like to get editing software and tighten the first SUPER TROOPERS film into something presentable. Within it WAS a great comedy, but I didn't laugh at all because the editing was horrible. If I could cut the original SUPER TROOPERS into a tighter ninety minute presentation, it'd be so much better than its current version. Just my rant. |

Good, I'm not the only person who thought it wasn't great. It had it's moments but that's not saying much.
I'll have to give it another chance, strike a mental note to borrow it today and watch it again... Maybe it's not as bad as I remember or I could be thinking of Club Dreadful. |

Just a little more info. Now that Jay Chandrasekhar (Thorny) is finished with Dukes of Hazzard, he will turn his attention to Super Troopers 2, and you can look for it next summer.
Personally I agree, Super Trooper did have some ruff spots, but take in to consideration that was only Broken Lizards second studio produced film, Chandrasekhar since then have added tons more experience to his resume. -Zavier

One of their first films? Well, that makes sense. The movie was more than 100 minutes long, but I watched it a couple of times and pinpointed about ten minutes worth of useless or awful film which can be deleted without wrecking the story. In fact, the deletions would clarify A LOT of the comedy and make that piece of shit into a great film. The only problem with that movie is the editing. If it were edited correctly, the comedic timing would exist, and the jokes would work. Ever since I saw that movie, I wanted editing software because I saw it at a time when I'd been writing my scripts for a long time so right after seeing it I knew exactly which parts should have been deleted to clarify their comedy. I NEED editing software, and then I need to use it to edit that movie, and then I need to send each of the actors a copy of my edit of that movie to show them that they were actually in a good movie afterall. |

Yeah ... ST2 should be good. They've probably got all the editing notes they needed from friends of theirs and reviewers who've seen ST, so number two shouldn't have all of the editing problems of number one. Number one was a great comedy hidden behind horrible editing. Hopefully number two will be a great comedy without all the horrible editing. |

I looked up that Jay guy and he's directed some episodes for some good tv series, like Arrested Development, Oliver Beene and Andy Richter Controls The Universe... Even though the Andy Richter show and Oliver Beene was short lived they were still pretty good.
I mean he's had some quality experience leading up to this next one so maybe they can finally make a really good comedy that stands out above the rest. |

I friggin' love Broken Lizard.
Loved Super Troopers and Club Dread. Can't wait until ST2. Yeah, they're still learning the trade - but it's still better than most comedies getting pumped out of Hollywood these days. |

Now that I know that this director did work on Oliver Beene and Andy Richter Controls The Universe -- two shows which were edited marvelously -- I realise that he has no excuse to have bad editing in ST2. So based on his resume between the first ST and the new one, I'm expecting a good sequel. He has no excuse for his second installment to not surpass the quality of the first ST. |

I enjoyed the first Super Troopers, but didn't think that it was the 'comedy masterpiece' that some people have made it out to be.
I liked it enough to be intrigued by the prospect of seeing Club Dread and now this (if/when it happens). |

While speaking at Comic Con last week, Broken Lizard says that the film will – as they always intended – be a prequel, with them playing the father’s of the characters they played in the original. As it’ll be set in the 70s, there will be plenty of opportunity to take the mickey out of the looks, fashions and trends of the day.

Eh. Super Troopers was inconsistent at best. Club Dread was unwatchable. And Dukes of Hazzard was unoriginal and poorly done (although they get bonus points for good old fashioned muscle stunts).
I'm not interested at all. |

Truth be told, Super Troopers was mediocre at best. I'm sorry to say, but from the plot ST2 looks like it will be no better.
I've never found Broken Lizards humour to be that funny. They're humour often lacks and the jokes drag on.
Super Troopers was alright.
Puddle Cruiser and Club Dread were just worthless peices of film.
And actually, the next Broken Lizard movie is a film called "Beerfest" |
