I'm hopeful for this... I've enjoyed Christophe Gans' previous films.

Holy poo on a stick!

ftp://ftp.futurenet.co.uk/pub/cvg/sh_movie_teaser.wmv

I know this is just a teaser, and not too many actual scenes of dialogue are shown, but good lord, this looks incredible!  If the movie itself is even half as creepy as this teaser, there may just finally be a definitive video-game-to-film adaptation.

All you have to do to make this movie work is to throw in the nurses.  The game (SH2) scared the living shit out of me.

Well, to be completely honest, this teaser didn't wow me like I hoped it would.  On the other hand, Hollywood eventually has to dish out a decent video game adaptation, so maybe this is the one.

My money is on Halo to take the title of best adaption, but this could be close. just tell me uwe has nothing to do with it and it makes it a better movie all ready.

Uwe's got a 4 hour-2 part epic coming out next year to flop.  Halo should be pretty good since Peter Jackson is doing it.  There has never been a really good video game adaptation surprisingly.  Super Mario Brothers is the first that I can think of and that pretty much stunk.  Resident Evil is alright, but nothing amazing.  Then you got the Uwe Boll masterpieces, Mortal Kombat, yada yada.  Silent Hill was a very successful series, so hopefully it can maintain that on the screen.

I was always thought Super Mario Bros. was a cool movie, but that was also because i was a kid when i first saw it (i rented it on PPV like 5 times in one day) and i look back on it now with fond memorys, much like those that grew up with the 60's batman show do. sure it not great by any means but it takes you and is fun to watch.

then again maybe im the exception.

I thought the teaser captured the flavor of the game perfectly.  A little surreal with a very grainy look to it.  I'm psyched for it.

Sounds like you're saying Uwe did Mortal Kombat which is not true though Uwe is doing about 5 video game films in the next 2 years... Fear Effect, Far Cry and so on. I've never watched the guys films, probably never will unless they can be bought for under 5 bucks but otherwise who cares about the guy.

I have no feelings about this film as it will be in the genre I hate so I couldn't care either way but I do hope they stay away from the video game and try to make it a stand alone product because who wants to watch what they played 5 years ago? Not me.

No, I wasn't associating Mortal Kombat with Uwe Boll, I was just using it as an example of poor video game adaptations.  But that's just what I think.

HOLY CR*P!

My God, the more I see of this film, the more I desperately can't wait to see it.  A full trailer has been posted here:

http://playlist.yahoo.com/makeplaylist.dll?id=1401398&sdm=web&qtw=640&qth=400

I know I've all ready said it plenty of times, but I'll be d*mned if this doesn't look like it's shaping up to be the video-game adaptation to beat!

Again, I'm skeptical.  Parts of the trailer were very good but the other parts were subpar.  But that's just my opinion.  I liked how they added that music at the end from the original game.

I agree. From the looks of it some of the effects look nice the others look straight out of the videogame.

Then again when I saw the first kong trailer I thought it looked like crap. During the film my jaw was dropped and my hat off.

I'm still going to see this primarily because it's by the director of Brotherhood of the Wolf which is visually gorgeous. Silent Hill is 90% atmopshere anyway, so I think they picked the right guy.
