If you haven't heard, Marvel has signed a multi-million dollar deal with Paramount Pictures to produce a number of films based on a whole plethora of its super heroes. Some on this list are actually pretty big deals like The Avengers and Captain America. Each of these could make fantastic movies. What is strange though is the inclusion of some less-than-popular characters, one of which was Ant-Man.
Well, strangely enough, it is this bizzarre character choice that may be the first to make it to the big screen as part of the new deal. And, according to ign.com, Edgar Wright (co-writer and director of "Shaun of the Dead") has been tapped to helm the big screen adaptation. Apparently, Wright is looking to make a comedy:
Now, though I am usually against studios turning my beloved super heroes into parodies of themselves, I have to say that for someone like Ant-Man, a comedy is the best way to go. I can't imagine something like "Ant-Man Begins" with an hour opening explaining the origins of a six-inch man. And with Wright onboard, I can't even imagine what this film can be like, but if they pair him with Simon Pegg, I can probably expect a great comedy (and Nick Frost; he should be thrown in just for good measure).
Anybody else have an opinion on this or any of the other super heroes listed in the deal?

They already made and AVENGERS movie and it sucked! They already made 2 CAPTAIN AMERICA movies and they were actually very good. I liked the 1st one a great deal. The actor who played him was amazing, I thought... He portrayed the Steve Rogers C.A. or something, I believe... and the RED SKULL was in it and man it was HOT!
I'm also a huge fan of the original PUNSHER flick... It just made sense and it wasn't over the top campy and outlandish. It was what it was and that was just an all around bad ass flick starring Mr. , I'll kick the piss out of any modern day action star, DOLPH LUNDGREN.
I don't see why we have to be hit with a million and 1 comic and videogame concept movies. I want something original and this stuff ain't cutting it. I mean a lot of these remakes aren't even 10 years old yet. CAPTAIN AMERICA came out in like 93 or 94 and it's follow up came even later. The AVENGERS came out in like 2000 or 2001 I believe... what gives?
"The Avengers" you speak of was the shitty movie version of a British television show from the 70's. The Avengers comic book is the super team that consists of Iron Man, War Machine, Hawkeye, and a whole group of other, lesser-known heroes.
Speaking of superhero movies... They are coming out with one about the FLASH now too... which dishearts me, cause I really do love this character. I don't read comic books. I never really did. Not BATMAN or SUPERMAN or any of them... however, VAULT OF HORROR, TALES FROM THE CRYPT and THE FLASH... I couldn't stay away from. I've collected them for years and even wrote me an incredible FLASH screeplay for a motion picture and placed 3rd in a screenwriting contest with it.
It's amazing... however, the new movie is going to look at WALLY WEST FLASH and that's the gay one. He sucks and bad. BARRY ALLEN is the flash... he just is. I cannot believe they are going to ruin the movie franchise by using that particular FLASH... and RYAN REYNOLDS to play him, c'mon!!!!!!!
I did not know that... I always liked IRON MAN's vibe, though. I never read a comic with him in it... but I know his story from somewhere or another.
TOM CRUISE was set to produce/direct and star in an IRON MAN movie at one time... TONY STARK or something or other?? Strange, what happened to that idea?
As a kid, I always enjoyed the "Flash" movie, and I was surprsied that I still do after picking up a bootleg DVD from a recent horror convention. That said, I can see where the suggestion of Ryan Reynolds is coming from. From what I can gather, the Flash is one of the most popular characters currently on the Justice League cartoon. And after seeing a select few episodes, I can see how Reynolds could be suggested for the part. That said, something tells me that the whole thing could end up being a shitty one-liner fest, ala "Fantastic Four."
Not sure what fell through for the "Iron Man" film. Cruise was attached for the longest time. Then, maybe only seven months ago, Nick Cassavettes (director, oddly enough, of "The Notebook") was set to direct. Since that announcement, though, I've heard nothing new.
