I saw a preview for a remake of Wes Craven's cult classic. That kinda pisses me off! The original scared the shit outta me. Does anyone have any info? (i doubt it) but is Wes Craven directing this? Plus the preview looks scary but it looks like an exact copy of the original.

It's actually supposed to be a pretty decent remake. Alexander Aja (Haute Tension) is directing with Craven producing. Apparently there was a lot of stuff Craven wanted to do with the original but couldn't due to budgetary constraints which is being done in the remake. The film also got an NC-17 rating and Aja has been have some issues cutting it down to an R.

With Craven producing and Aja directing, I thought this could actually end up being decent until I saw the trailer, which IMO looks like yet another MTV-style Michael Bay-produced remake of a horror classic. I might still check it out but the trailer makes me nervous. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

If Craven's on the project, that makes me a little...more eager to see it but I still might wait for the unrated dvd if it would originaly be NC-17   Just kidding.

Yeah here's a link to it's imdb page:

I also recall hearing about this little flicker, which appearently was initially suppose to be a remake, but later they tried to pass it off as an original film.

At least the way people are talking they've went for a hard R Rating or possibly a NC-17 directors cut so maybe some Hollywood film makers actually care about the medium instead of making a quick buck like say Wes Craven as of late anyway.
