The director of "Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe" said that they are going to begin shooting "Prince Caspian," the next book in the series, this fall. He said that they needed to shoot it now or never, because the actors would be to old if they waited to much longer.

Actually, the nest in the narnia series is "The horse and his boy" but that does not contain the the characters of the second book, the lion the witch and the wardrobe, so it would make sense for them to film prince caspian next. |

Prince Caspian Pushed Back to Summer '08
The Hollywood Reporter says Disney rescheduled The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian hours after Columbia Pictures circulated an announcement Tuesday staking a claim on December 8, 2007 for the domestic release of its new fantasy fable The Water Horse. Both sweeping epics are produced by Walden Media and when left to open one week apart were perfectly poised to cannibalize one another's 2007 Christmas box office.

Those of us with the original set show Prince Caspian as number 2 and The Horse and His Boy as number 5. I know the rerelease reordered the books chronologically, but if they were going to film chronologically, that would place The Magician's Nephew first, I believe, though my book set shows a 6 on his spine. |

As a fan of the original BBC series, I thought the original felt 'rushed' and I didn't connect with half of the characters like I did with the series (which makes sense since you engage more time connecting with a series).
Nevertheless, I'll look forward to Prince Caspian and see what becomes of the story. |

okay - stupid question.....
I never read any of the Narnia books but my younger brother swears to me that after the four children return from Narnia they catch a train back home after the war.
- only -
the train crashes and three of the four kids die. to be sure this isn't true. Or is it? |

If it is true, I hope that annoying younger boy of the two dies. He was so annoying in the movie and I wanted to beat him up or have him get turned into stone.

Same, I wanted to give him a nice bloody nose. Then spit on him. He was such an annoying little brat! |

Some more news from BANG Showbiz Anna Popplewell recently gave a quick update on The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, in which she reprises her role as Susan Pevensie. "I am usually the last to know about these things but I know the producers are scouting for locations at the moment," Popplewell said.
"I've been told we should be starting shooting at the beginning of next year. As far as the children go, I think all the old faces will be back. We're all keen to do 'Caspian' anyway."
She also wants to try and get a namecheck for her hometown London 'burb - Finchley - in the film after managing to squeeze it in the first time around.
Anna revealed: "I really want to, I really do. I was so pleased to get it in and was over the moon when it made the final cut."
Disney is targeting a summer 2008 release for the "Narnia" sequel.- cs-Zavier |

While "The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe" was shot in New Zealand, the second installment, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, will likely shoot in the forests of Europe this coming January, producer Mark Johnson told The Hollywood Reporter. Disney is targeting a summer 2008 release and Andrew Adamson again co-writes and directs.
The trade adds that Adamson and Johnson will reteam to produce the third film, "Voyage of the Dawn Treader," a year after finishing "Prince Caspian."
Yay! I'm excited now. I can't wait to see this film.

Oh crap they're really making another one.
I thought the original was a bad Lord of the Rings. And I hate Lord of the Rings. So that should give you an idea of my opinion of the first movie. I didn't even like the book. I don't really understand why it's such a classic. Maybe there was some point to the book that I completely missed. Oh well.
Cheers, Chismeister. |

I don't know what the big deal is about Narnia. I thought the first one was average at best. |

Same here. I liked the book as a child but the movie was just too cutesy wutesy and a bit silly. Although Georgie Henley was really good in it. |

Yup, "cutesy wutesy" is probably the best way to describe this movie. |

Yeah, Prince Caspian is my favorite book so far. Haven't read all of them...I know...I'm a disgrace to the fantasy geek nation but oh well. I love the poster. I thought the first film was an average fantasy film that's good for the first go around but it's rather boring if you watch it more than once. Nothing really stand out about it. Some films get by because they are visual effect break through films or something, but the effects in this all seemed average. Aslan was the only great piece of CGI in this. The rest sometimes even looked fake.
I hope they make this film darker--literally. They replaced the cinematographer, which is a good thing in my opinion. I guess his shots worked for the first film, but everything was so bright and saturated. I hope the color palette goes more for the color scheme of Harry Potter 5.
Either way, I'm gonna be in my seat at the theater opening night at the first screening and will most likely enjoy the heck out of it. Only after months of watching it over and over again will I come to the conclusion that it could've been much better. ha ha.

Here's the trailer for the film: http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=39942I was a bit surprised that there was absoloutly no build up about this trailer. It seems like movies this year have made the release of their trailer an event unto itself. This one just sort of...appeared. Anyway, I think it looks great. And the tone of the film seems a lot less cute than the first film. I'm sure to those who haven't read the books will comment saying that it looks like just another fantasy film. I think they could've picked a better tagline than The Fate of the World Lies with the Destiny of One...because the story is so much better than that, and it just makes it feel like another coming-of-age story. But it really isn't, and this film looks ten times better than the first Narnia movie. -Chris |
