My friend spends HOURS playing this game. I never got into myself.
If done right, may be quite good. |

I'm not like people are as far "Holy cow! It's WARCRAFT!" but its a cool little game and could make a good movie. |

I'e played a lot of the follow-up game, Starcraft, myself as well as a few imitators, but very little of Warcraft (though enough to know Starcraft is the same thing, but in space). It's a clever little concept and very engaging. If they use the storylines provided by the game, it could be intereting, especially if Warcraft has basically the same kind of arc that Starcraft does. |

Here is an interesting rumor. According to JoBlo.com, Stephen Spielberg might helm World of Warcraft. -Zavier Update: According to SpielbergFilms, "Steven Spielberg's offices have told us in no uncertain terms that Mr. Spielberg will not be directing "World of Warcraft." The project is in development, but not with Mr. Spielberg attached." |

I'm glad. I haven't played the game but I've read a lot about it and I'm looking forward to this. Spielberg isn't one of my favorite directors and I'm glad that he isn't directing it. Phew.
Hopefully Peter Jackson will NOT get involved with it....that way he can hurry up and work on the Hobbit. I'm tired of waiting.

I don't play videogames, but I do know about this game because of a few friends of mine... All I wanna know is how? How in the hell can you turn this into a movie? Isn't this more expansive than just any run of the mill Video Game to movie adaptation?
From what I've seen of this game there isn't even a story... Just you interacting with people online as you fight things across the land. Aren't the missions or quest or whatever, set up by the player?
Why don't they just come out with a movie called "BLADE OF ISTHAR" and call it quits? Do they really have to make this into a movie now too... "hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm" |

Yeah it is, if Lord of the Rings was three movies, World of Warcraft would translate into twenty-seven. The game is massive and the lore behind everything is insanely complex, that's why I haven’t bothered learning much of it. I just log on and kill things. -Zavier |

Finally an update. New Warcraft movie details have emerged from BlizzCon. According to Kotaku, representatives from Blizzard confirmed that the Warcraft movie will be live-action with a yet to be determined level of CG environments and effects. They are still planning for a 2009 release. The folks over at Blizzard also said they did not want to "create another video game movie" but to "create an epic." The script is still in the works and there is no director yet, but they did confirm the story would take place about a year before the events in "World of Warcraft" take place. The film will be told from the Alliance perspective. |

I'll only see it if it has Leeroy Jenkins in it. |
Haha, that would so rock. I wonder who they will get to play the "phat lewt ninja", "noob", or even the "chinese farmer". I recently quit playing World of Warcraft after having played the game for approximately three years to devote more of my time to Real World affairs. I think a movie would be cool, even though I normally don't care for movies based on games. A WoW movie is also a guarantee for some nice cash flow: I can imagine a huge number of WoW players checking out that movie. I agree about the Lore behind WoW being sufficient to make at least 25 WoW movies. Kinda interesting to see what they'd use for the movie. Maybe they will go back to the original battle at Mount Hyjal. |

A rather significant update. It seems Ain't It Cool News has confirmed that the WoW movie finally has a director... and it's Sam Raimi. Crazy huh? Read more about it here. -Aelna (Dark Iron) |

I like this news. I think Sam Raimi is the perfect fit, just my two cents. Hopefully he doesn't mess up to the caliber of SP3 |

Speaking of MMOG's, I've just discovered Neo Steam. It's free, about a gig download and it's highly addictive. Great chat too. Anyone else out there know of it? Aaron? |
