Franchise runners Michael G. Wilson & Barbara Broccoli have officially announced that Daniel Craig will be heading back for at least one more turn as James Bond.
The upcoming "Casino Royale", based on the first of Ian Fleming's 007 novels is due to hit cinemas November 17th, and it looks as though Craig won't have long to rest up, because "22" has been tentatively slotted in for release on May 2nd, 2008.-moviehole
At the moment, the film is thought to be an original story from Wilson, and "Notting Hill" Director Roger Michell is currently in negotiations to helm the next outing.

Well, it's about time they return to the shooting schedule of the 60's. It's not one per year, but November 06 to May 08 isn't that far off. Better than four years or more between them. I understood the reason for the delay between License to Kill and Goldeneye, but From The World is Not Enough and Die Another Day and then DAD to Casino Royale was just insane. |

According to Variety, helmer Roger Michell (Changing Lanes, Notting Hill) was in talks to direct the next James Bond( following Casino Royale) , but the negotiations have fallen through due to "creative differences."
So, the search for the next "James Bond" director is still on.

According to The Los Angeles Times, Paul Haggis ( the Oscar-winning writer-director of Crash and co-writer of Casino Royale) will return to work on the script for the "Royale" follow-up, temporarily titled Bond 22. Haggis will polish the Bond 22 screenplay by regular Bond writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade ( The World Is Not Enough, Die Another Day). |

GoldenEye (1995) Tomorrow never Dies (1997) The World is not enough (1999) Die another Day (2002) Traditionally there's been a 2-year gap between Bond films ever since Thunderball, but There has been exceptions like the 3-year gap between "The man with the golden gun (1974)" to "The Spy Who loved me (1977)" The only longer transitions have been between changing Bond-actors like the gap between License to Kill and GoldenEye and from DAD to Casino Royale. |

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the next Bond film now has a director. Marc Forster has signed on to direct the next installment. It would be Forster's first attempt at a big-budget action flick. His previous films include " Stranger Than Fiction," " Finding Neverland" and " Monster's Ball". He's definitely not your typical Bond director. |

People said the same thing about Jonathan Demme when he was making Silence of the Lambs, and look what happened. I think it's bloody fantastic that the producers are going with a less obvious choice. Marc Foster is a brilliant director, Stranger Than Fiction was one of my favourite movies of last year. I think he'll bring something fresh and very interesting to the Bond franchise. He may not be experienced with visual effects and stunts, but he knows drama, and he knows character. I'm really looking forward to seeing what he comes up with.

Some interesting news from Paul Haggis who is returning to write the next Bond film of the series.
Quoted Text As for the storyline, Mr. Haggis wasn't giving anything up including any possible shooting or setting locations, however he would say, "It picks up 2 minutes after the last one, and it's going to be fun." |

"Quantum of Solace" is the title of the new James Bond film, the 22nd Bond adventure.
Apparently, it's the title of a James Bond short story Ian Fleming published in 1960.
The title was revealed to reporters Thursday at Pinewood Studios outside of London, where the movie is being filmed. |

Yeah, I was hoping that our resident Bond expert (George) could shed some light on what the title means and what the original short story was about. edit:Here is the logo that was displayed at the news conference. |

That logo is pretty cool.
As for the title, after some dictionary.com-ing, I found that quantum means a particular amount of something; a share or portion. And solace obviously means comfort in sorrow; or consolation. So Quantum of Solace basically means "a portion of comfort." As for the short story, I have no idea. I've never read it.
But I do like that title, it has a very old fashioned vibe to it, like Casino Royale.

A little googling for the curious: "Quantum of Solace" is a short story from this collection of five stories: Love the motorcycle helmet nipple haha. That is so Bond. The story, however, sounds dreadfully dull, involving Bond at a dinner party of all things. But I know for a fact that some of these movies have nothing at all to do with the stories by Fleming. I read "The Spy who Loved Me" a long time ago, and virtually the whole thing took place at one motel. I suspect the same thing here. The story will likely reveal very little about the film. |

Oh that title won't go over well with non-native English speakers. The only word covered by school English in that title is "of". I guess we'll get another really stupid English-to-English translation like with the Die Hard movies.
Sounds kinda stupid too. Why not go with "Austerity of Equinox" since we're playing scrabble? That's 49 points right there. |

I'd given up on watching Bond. In fact I missed all the Timothy Dalton & Pierce Brosnon ones. However, I watched Casino Royale the other day because Mads Mikkelson was in it and I really liked it, so I'm looking forward to seeing the next one. To me it seems like they're working a lot harder on character development with Bond these days, which makes it a lot more interesting to me. Apparently it’ll be opening in Australia on November the 27th. |

I saw the trailer the other day and it looks quite good. I enjoyed Casino Royale because it was gritty and realistic.
Watch Layer Cake to see how ready he was to play Bond.
At least this film is going to get a legit response unlike The Dark Knight. Which is sad. |

the trailer hit it in me saying ' I wanna see that!' BADLY!
layer cake was a good movie, one of the first 'daniel craig' movies i've seen than that war one that dealt with something in the soviet union...for the life of me I cant remember...oh and besides 'the invasion' and 'golden compass' which were okay movies

I felt that about Casino Royale. I think the Bourne series raised the bar for this genre, in that it had all the stuff that the old Bonds had only with a harder edge and better character development. So obviously the Bond franchise had to reinvent itself to prevent itself from becoming a relic of the past and to its credit it has. |

Sweet trailer.
Looks like Craig's got that whole brooding, damaged Bond thing down. |
