The trailer for the upcoming feature film adaptation of the kids book series "The Spiderwick Chronicles" has been released.

I don't really know what to think of the trailer myself. The books were very original and dark...this trailer just makes it look like just another fantasy film.

Hmm...

Well, the books were a very clever, yet simplke fantasy story...more like 5 chapters of a single story than 5 novels. I read all five of them within a few days. I imagine they'll go ahead and cram all 5 books into a single movie, given their lengths. Were the books original? Well, they had their moments, but after Harry Potter took the world by storm, everyone wants a piece of the kid fantasy pie, and these books fed that frenzy. They're more like Lord of the Rings crossed with Harry Potter and Artemis Fowl...but a lot shorter.

If the movie doesn't do something incredibly impressive, it'll be easily forgotten.

Well, I don't know...even if it does do something extremely impressive, it may still be forgotten due to the fact that the books aren't as popular as Narnia or Rings.

Look at Bridge to Terabithia. No one ever really talks about that movie...it didn't do good at the box office...and yet once it came out, the larger amount of the reviews for it were very positive.

Who knows? I'm looking forward to it being the fantasy nerd I am. I'll probably enjoy it, too. I enjoy most fantasy films. ha ha. Even if everyone else hates them.
